That was a salty and tense room. Me and my dad PISSED. Mom, my wife, and my 7 year old son all had questions. Dad was stuttering and stammering mad. I’m livid like most. Trying to answer questions without cursing, being a prick to my mom and wife, or teaching my son EVERY filthy word I know was tough.

Also, Dad isn’t always the most racially sensitive SWLA fella in his 70’s. So there is stifling that language as well for my 7 year old to not repeat.

Tense room.

I feel ya. I am almost glad my dearly departed dad wasn't around to see that debacle. It was just me and my mom watching...I actually had been out of town and stopped by her place on my way home from the airport to catch the 4th quarter of the game. When the Vikings scored on the last play of the game, she just said "Oh. My. God" and walked into the kitchen....I was remarkably quiet. I don't think I uttered a word for about a half hour.

Yeah I feel ya. My Paw Paw always calls the Seawhawks "Washington". I thought he was on crack when he first told me "I think Washington's the best team in the league right now" and I was just like...."the Redskins? Really?"

"How long have you been a black quarterback?" Reportedly asked of Doug Williams shortly before he became the first black QB to win a Superbowl.

Why are we wasting our time looking at other college coaches when we already have the one we need?!

Anyone remember that scene in one of those Air Bud movies where the woman called a touchdown a home run?

That may not be considered a question, but still though...

Reporter asking Redskins QB Doug Williams , right before the Redskins played in the Super Bowl, “ How long have you been a black quarterback”?
That’s not a question from a girl that doesn’t know sports but from an actual sports reporter.

I worked for the Reds for a couple summers and we actually were taught to wait until the 4th strikeout and go from 2 to 4. Would think most organizations have that in place

Why are a kick through the uprights and a ball in the hoop both called field goals?

No, really, I’m asking...

It's just so much better than the actual event (well, somewhat better)

quote:

But Bob Kravitz, a reporter for the Rocky Mountain News, explained what really happened:

I hate to burden this column with the truth — really, why start now? — but I was next to the guy when that question supposedly was asked of Doug Williams, and what the reporter actually said was, “Doug, obviously you’ve been a black quarterback your whole life. When did race begin to matter to people?” Which was a perfectly reasonable question on a day when Williams was fielding hundreds of “black quarterback” questions. Problem was, Williams either misunderstood or didn’t hear the question because he said, “How long have I been a black quarterback?”
