Said it on the Hoops Collective podcast this morning. Sounds like the league is desperate to get Zion Williamson in the playoffs for obvious $ reasons.

What is the MSBs surely very rational thoughts on this revelation?

Going beyond that, and on a more serious note to try and get some actual discussion going, it certainly seems like the league will pursue (rightly) whatever option they believe will recoup the most revenue, not what is “most fair”. Taking how this affects your team out of it, is this the rational way to go?

(The Windhorst quote is per LesGeaux45 who posted it on Pels Talk)

The Pels aren’t going to win the title, nor any team with a record close to them. I don’t care if the NBA maximizes the entertainment value of the early return by including the most interesting players, seems like a good business decision to me.

It should be where the Suns are. They were the last team I would say had a chance to get in strictly based off math. Ja is good, but the playoffs would be better with Zion or Dame Lilliard

It has always been evident that Adam would do whatever the governors would allow him to do to get Zion into the playoffs.

Pels are my second team. I would like to see Zion in the playoffs. But at the same time I would get a kick
Outta seeing lebron lose in rd 1. The team who could do that is very clearly the one lead by dame.

As a NOLA sports fan not much good happens for us, I am perfectly okay with the NBA tossing us this bone.

Sweet. We should do a fan vote every year to allow one dark horse team into the playoffs

Well considering how we had the easiest part of our schedule coming up and had a legit shot at the playoffs under normal circumstances, I don't feel very bad for getting special treatment because we have a young star

I'm all or nothing. I want the pels in the playoffs, or not playing at all. Way too much risk to play meaningless games.

I'm 100% down for the group stage idea

money and entertainment are not the best ways to crown a champion but i cant knock the nba for going w an approach that accomplishes those goals.

i do suppose it would silence the narrative that nba caters to lebron

Wouldn’t it be smarter to cut them off and then rig the Lottery for them, amirite?

Considering the fact that the NBA is seriously pondering a 24 team "World Cup" format for the playoffs, I think there is a lot of validity to Windhorst's theory.
