People rarely if ever admit that they are hypocrite in some area (although all of us are to a certain extent). I learned this a long time ago.

Put Brooklyn, Orlando, Portland, New Orleans, Sacramento, and San Antonio into a group. Play round robin and take top 2 teams and make them seeds 15 and 16 where they would play Bucks and Lakers.

I’m a hypocrite that I normally lambast the NBA for playing too many games and allowing too many teams into the playoffs, but I want to see MORE ZION!!!

I like the idea, given the uniqueness of our current situation, of doing a 24 team World Cup style tournament with a knockout round. That sounds like a fun and relatively fair way to get something that feels like a real championship.

Mostly, I just want sports back and don’t really care how they do it.

Seriously?

If the Pels were top 8 and the choices were they go straight to the playoffs or have a play in, Pels fans would melt over a play in.

This isn't unique to Pels fans, but let's not pretend like this isn't how it would go.

Switching a 8 and 10 seed would be just a screw job. Doing a play in doesn't reward the 8 seed for having a better record than the other play in participants. If the shoe was on the other foot, it would be a problem.

Once again I disagree with this. Don't judge everyone based on what you would do in a situation. If the Pelicans were in Memphis' position and the NBA decided to give opportunities to the teams right on our heels, you would not see me on here protesting. Would I be happy if they went straight to the playoffs and my team benefited? Of course I would but it wouldn't anger me if they didn't because I wouldn't feel like my team got shafted. That's why I don't advocate for any scenario that the Grizzlies lose their spot except by playing out the season. I would actually like an somehow expanded playoffs that included the Pels or some play in option that is weighted towards Memphis because of their lead. The Pelicans were 3 back, had 2 more games to play against Memphis, and had blasted them the previous 2 times they met. If I was a Grizzlies fan I don't see how I could get upset at that team getting a chance to earn a spot.

Same here, but you're kidding yourself if you don't think Pels Talk would be littered with posts bitching about it.

Absolutely no doubt.

That does't make any more or less logical, but yeah people would be bitching, of course.

I didn't mean every Pels fan. No fanbase all responds the same way.

In general, I just mean if the Pels were presumptively in and the NBA announced they'd have to play their way in, you'd get a lot fewer Pels fans saying that was fair as opposed to now, when a play in benefits their team.

Like I said, that's not unique to the Pels fan base either. Just that the overall reaction would be different and fewer people would jump up to say a play in was fair.

Right, and to keep it totally fair it's only Pels-centric because we're in that spot in this is a Louisiana dominated message board obviously.

Any team in the league would be doing the same as Pels fans now if in their situation.
