He was like 42 years old. You don't think he isn't going to continue to improve as a coach?

also it was an awesome interview, largely about LSU and Louisiana, and the challenges of LSU, how basketball works now, etc.
wade says since football exploded under Saban every kid wants to play football in the state, and that for example LSU WR Brian thomas is an awesome basketball player but chose football, because that's what the best athletes in the state do.
he expressed some loyalty that I think implies he will give mcneese 1 more year before taking whatever job he wants. nobody is detail-oriented and smart like he is and he will win everywhere.

Yes, he peaked at 38….
in the interview he said that without more support LSU will top out at being a top 15-20 team and make the sweet 16, but never advance to elite level. he said it was a real struggle to win at LSU, a challenge he welcomed, but a challenge nonetheless.
I dunno if he thinks the ceiling of the program can get to blue-blood levels, and I am not sure if he means because of the level of local recruits or the fact that baseball and football are top priorities. or maybe something else. but he thinks that LSU is not currently at a level where they can be at the level of Duke KY Kansas etc. not yet. maybe that's something woodward can change, maybe not.

Jacques Doucet is both a liar & a whore

It sounded like he was hinting at being undermined by the Dale/Temple coalition.

Nice interview. Guy loves Louisiana and the people here. It’ll always be a huge what if with LSU Basketball when it comes to Will Wade.

Really good and interesting interview. Kind of cryptic at times. Very complimentary and almost defensive of Matt McMahon.

Ridiculous statements like this are why no one takes you frickers seriously and why you get so much shite on this board.

wade is incredibly detail oriented. he studies soft tissue injuries in the English premier league to better understand how to keep his guys healthy. he hires a consultant to help research predict which small school will win their conference so he can schedule them to juice his NET. he analyzed how NET works and while other teams thought you only needed to win by 10, he realized that blowouts helped efficiency rankings. he saw something in the advanced analytics indicating Eason was better than his performance at Cincinnati. he studied how much walking his players did on the roadtrips relative to performance and banned tourist shite the day before, then went undefeated on the road. he was obsessed with the walk between his office and the gym and the weightoom for the accumulated time over the course of the season wasted. he knew from memory the NET and RPI and shite of ULL so he could trash them in a press conference. he knows everything.
like I said, he is detail oriented.

a very interesting thing wade discussed was transfer portal and ideal player retention strategy. before i had the impression that wade wanted to always be moving players through and out, always improving the group with upgrades and a new team each year. and he has said things like that in the past, but I think that might be largely a function of mcneese being more of a stepping stone to a bigger school, where an SEC school is the final stop before pro ball.
I had the impression that wade thought mcmahon's ideas about long term building the system, the program, the culture, were unsophisticated and behind the times. you cant build culture, you have a whole new team every year. but now wade says he thinks you should try to be keeping 3 starters or so each year and having some level of continuity. again, this has to be viewed through different lenses depending on if you are at mcneese or at LSU.
that said, I think your core at LSU is clearly Williams and ward and reed, those guys need to stay. augmented by incoming freshmen Miller and givens, and a few experienced transfers.
