in the interview he said that without more support LSU will top out at being a top 15-20 team and make the sweet 16, but never advance to elite level. he said it was a real struggle to win at LSU, a challenge he welcomed, but a challenge nonetheless.

Whether Wade said this or anybody else, I’ll take getting to Top 15-20 and Sweet Sixteen consistently and not be worried about becoming “elite.” That’s for far down the road.

If CMM accomplishes the first two, build the statue.

it's funny how everything wade said in that interview was damn near the polar opposite of everything his sycophants on tRant say.

what wade said was more in line to what the minority of people on here believe: football playing a part in his firing, that they had done about all they could winning wise, it was the right decision to fire him, etc...

i wonder what excuses and copium wade dickriders will have to come up with to come to terms with this interview

i laughed when he said that we were a top 15-20 program making sweet 16s every year. that's simply not true. (this doesn't mean wade was a bad coach, that's not what i'm saying)

we made ONE sweet 16 during wade's tenure and he wasn't even the coach during the tournament. those wins in the tournament went to tony benford and this can be confirmed on sportsreference. not to mention, we only finished as a ranked team ONCE during wade's five years.

wade mentioned in the interview how hard it is to win at lsu.. and he's right. from an institutional standpoint the administration doesn't really give a shite about men's basketball

Were in round of 32 the tournament he coached. Given Iowa St made it to the Sweet 16, very likely the last team he had makes it if he was allowed to coach.

They were 100% becoming a top 20 program

dude is trash and fricked lsu. now MM has to try to clean it up with all the so called basketball "supporters" bashing him instead of getting behind him because they're too busy with wade's cock in their mouth. anyone that claims to be a fan of lsu and lsu basketball can not simultaneously be a fan of will wade for what he did to lsu.

Weird isn't it.

John Brady makes the final four, about thirty years ago, and was fired the next season for not winning enough.
Orgeron builds the best team in the history and immediately lost support and was fired a couple years later.
Wade takes a bottom feeder to consistent top half of the SEC, lost support and was fired.
Now its Kelly and Mac's turn.
How long will they be here?

Which one of those was caught on an fbi wire tap?
I’ll hang up and listen (like he should have done)

Maybe none, so why were they fired?
Brady, took over a pile of crap and built it back. The fired.

Wade made it very clear he will be a Power 5 head coach in the future.
My guess is after the two year show cause is up that will free up a bigger school to go after him.

The fans just want the team to win...regardless of the HC. They supported Wade because he won at the most consistent level any basketball coach had since the early 90's. They are not fully behind McMahon yet because he currently has a losing record in nearly two years on the job. Now, that support is growing because he's performed relatively well in SEC play this season. But I don't think anyone who is a basketball fan is baselessly withholding full-throated support for McMahon simply because of some vendetta. They just aren't willing to fully provide it until he proves he can win consistently. Hopefully that will happen soon.

Wade won at LSU. There have been eight coaches in the 115 years history of LSU basketball that had tenures of 5 years or longer. Wade, by far, has the highest winning % of .673. For context, Brown's winning % was .595; Brady's was .580, Jones's was .556. Did Wade bring LSU to the heights that Brown (and for one season) Brady did? No. But there was, for the first time in nearly 30 years, reason to believe the program could be a consistent winner. If you can't understand why he was so well liked by the fans then I don't really know what to say.

And to be factually correct, Wade didn't do anything to LSU (other than, I guess, cost the program two scholarships over two seasons). LSU made the decision to blowup the program by firing Wade. Were they correct or justified in doing so? That will probably long be up for debate. But LSU made the choice to get rid of Wade...not the other way around...and the program has struggled since relative to its level of success prior to Wade's firing.

Yes, the constant Wade posts/topics can be annoying. But I don't view them as people trying to promote the Wade fan club, or to facilitate any sense of personal hate for McMahon. They are more in the nature of an "I told you so" toward the administration. As a season ticket holder and probably one of the 10% of people who like to discuss basketball even outside of basketball season, it's frustrating to watch the program fall from where it was from 2017-2022. That doesn't mean I want McMahon to fail. It's just that LSU lost a level of success they had struggled to attain for 30 years when they fired Wade and there is no certainty they will get it back in the next 30 years

The Ohio St. job is already open. (Likely) the same for West Virginia. There is also reason to think Louisville, Oklahoma St, Vanderbilt, Washington, Michigan, Stanford, (among others) could likewise become available. Most of those jobs will likely have to be filled by hiring from the mid-major ranks. Of the potential mid-major coaches that may be in demand, Wade is one of the few (maybe the only one) who has a proven track record of success at a power conf. program. That is going to be enticing to an AD because hiring from the mid-major ranks always brings with it a level of uncertainty.

Any school that hires Wade will have to abide by the terms of his show cause sanctions for one season (most notably, a 10 game suspension). But after that, they are pretty much free and clear. If you think he could come in and engineer a quick turnaround like he did at LSU and McNeese, it may very well be worth the 10 game suspension and (initial) bad publicity you get for hiring Wade.
