sms is my ninja, but there are 35 jobs Stoops would go to before KSU. I must be missing something.

On edit, I see the AD qualification. Fair enough.

KSU has a lot of really attractive coaching candidates connected to it, either from that area of Kansas, played there, or coached there - but they're all tied up in other places.

I know one who's free:

His health issues never explained I thought. But I think he just wanted away from stress/ulcers.

I think he will be a great AD at K State as he is family and they learned the lesson with Prince. Prince’s most disgusting thing wasn’t losing but firing Shorty the way he did it.

There’s a prestigious award at K State names for Shorty and that arse just threw him under the bus and fired him

Come on Bunk you think I would have Bobby and Kerrie going back just as HC

Kerrie Stoops was fine back when she was at K State

Stoops didn't retire for health reasons per se.

He retired because he didn't want to end up like his dad, who had a heart attack on the field and died en route to the hospital at age 54 (Bob is 57). He's made no bones about the fact that he wants to enjoy life with his family and take it easy, and he was pretty open when he was coaching about how football wasn't his entire life and he wasn't a crazy workaholic. People connected with him say he's absolutely retired for good.

I figure Stoops will get the Grumor treatment for several coaching cycles before people give it a rest.

He should. Very close to many players with direct experience with the program. He's reputation is not nearly as shiny on the inside as it is perceived from the outside. He is beginning to handicap the program by trying to politic for his son. Things can go bad very quickly for KSU in the next few years without a great hire.

I get the alumni tie, but Gary will die at TCU...and he’s way to smart to follow directly after Snyder.

Hayden Fry treatment. Small rural school with no much history and no natty's = casual CFB fans around the country won't even know who is 10-20 after he retires, even though in reality he's one of the greatest coaches to ever do it.

He's from Central Kansas and he played and coached at KSU. On top of that he has the exact skill set and mentality KSU is looking for in a coach from his time when TCU was in the Mountain West in that he knows how to identify undervalued talent, develop it, and fit it in a winning system. Patterson could also use his time as a JUCO player to leverage JUCO recruiting which Snyder has lived off of. He's the perfect coach to follow Snyder.

That said, I agree with RummelTiger in that I don't think Patterson leaves unless something crazy happens, but if you're KSU you still make the call. You'd be stupid not to at least throw an offer out there. We've seen crazy coaching moves before, Gary Anderson to OSU, Bielema to Arkansas, Reilly to Nebraska. It happens.

I think Gruden gets that treatment because he and his agent want rumors out there and they indicate they are potentially interested. Those rumors aren't just made up out of thin air.

I wonder what Saban could do there?

It would be a place with virtually no history, limited resources, bad weather, no real recruiting footprint.

Essentially, it is the polar opposite of Florida.

Supposedly Leavitt was to be hired as HC for next year but Snyder blocked it. Not sure if it's true though.

KSU football record before Bill Snyder: 299–510

They were the worst FBS program in the country in 1989. 4 winning seasons in 44 years and hadn’t won a game since 1986. What Bill Snyder has done for that program is absolutely unbelievable.

Are you drunk??

Kansas St officials would make a deal with the devil, so Snyder would stop aging and coach for another 30 years if they could.

He only leaves to let his son take over. thats it. They let him retire one time, and Scary Smart ran them into the shitters, so they ain't asking him to leave, until he wants to leave.
