If you use the whole shot clock, you have less opportunity to score. You still taking the same shot but with less tries.
Bennett philosophy is arse to play under

Yeah it’s a talent issue.

He’s a great coach, but he can’t out scheme bad players.

UVA’s good teams actually had NBA talent. This one has nothing like that.

You should be able to scheme 15 points in 23 minutes.

Like I said to LSU fans earlier this fall... I would rather win 15-13 than lose 49-55.

It isn’t if you’re a good player. The difference the last couple years is their talent level. I doubt any of their NBA guys from 5 years ago have major qualms about the coaching.

They have maybe 1-2 players who would see the court on their title team. They will win big again if they can figure out a way to sign future pros in the world of NIL, but I suspect that will be an issue.

Do you even Les Miles era, brah? LSU was born into the sad offense philosophy, you merely adopted it. Also, who wouldn’t always choose winning?

The key stat to look at are points per possession. I have no idea where UVA is at this year but some of those Dick Bennett coached Wisconsin teams were really good at points per possession. Bo Ryan’s teams were phenomenal at it but they were branded as “boring.” Hell, I’d rather win a boring game than lose an exciting game.

That 2000 Sweet Sixteen game between LSU and Wisconsin still haunts me

Coach Bennett runs what’s known as “mover/blocker” on offense and which uses a more tradition lineup of 3 guard types and 2 bigs and is more focused on pin downs and flare screens than spacing and attacking gaps. This leads to slower paced offensive play due to the lack of space to attack off the dribble early in a possession. Usually you are going to see double pin downs into a flare on the backside before any type of attack happens.

A place that had the whole Cam Newton saga should never mention stealing a title.

I get it, Bennett values defense more, but damn they play offense practically handicapped.

2014-15 Wisconsin still has the highest AdjO KenPom has ever recorded (it's not very close) and scored 1.19 points/possession with one of the 5-6 slowest tempos in the country. Insanely difficult to beat a team like that.

We know.

I assume the university will struggle with the idea of buying players.

UVA wins lot of games because Bennett is a good coach. But they benefit in league games, particularly road games, because the ACC refs allow his team to get away with holding, grabbing, bumping and moving screens.

Tony Bennett (HC) learned from the best, his dad, Dick Bennett. Apparently some of you are too young to remember those low scoring Wisconsin Badger teams his dad coached
