Why isn't Pete Rose in the HOF?

Well one gambled on games, the other produced solid numbers

Pete Rose asked for and accepted the life time ban in exchange for Major League Baseball to stop the investigation.

I want to know why Pete bet on games he was managing, except when Mario Soto was the starting pitcher. Some of his lineups look fishy in hindsight. Was he throwing games when Soto started?

Bc WAR wasn’t really much of a thing when Lofton played.

Kenny Lofton is my favorite player of all time. I loved watching him play for those Indians teams of the 90s. I hope one day he does get the invite. One of the greatest leadoff hitters of all time.

I watched him his entire career and never had the feeling I was watching a HOFer

That being said, when you look at the numbers you provided a case could definitley be made for his inclusion. Still, if I had a vote I would vote no. He was a very good player, but not an all-time great IMO

Because he’s not a power hitter, doesn’t have a career .300 average and didn’t come anywhere close to 3,000 hits.

Because it's the baseball HOF.

Not the Basketball HOF.

5 of your arguments are about WAR.

Baseball writers don't give a shite about Sabermetrics or a civilian like Bill James just like they probably don't care about Game of Thrones when voting on HOF worthiness.

Lofton should be in the HOF. But Bill James has nothing to do with it. Baseball HOF unlike basketball is notoriously strict.

It's crazy to think that Lofton hit .299 for his career and had almost 2500 hits and is forgotten by many people.

Didn’t Baines get in from a veterans committee, not a traditional vote?

Him complaining about being traded to Atlanta for Grissom and Justice didn’t help him in the media either.
