Why is it a headline that Homa didn't qualify for the US Open today?

Because he is a popular golfer on tour.

He was top 10 last year. Tbh I was surprised he wasn’t in the field. Not a bad story for a slow news day in sports.

Rickie Fowler is more popular and lost on the same playoff hole as Homa. I also did not understand the ESPN ticker last night scrolling every 5 minutes that Max didn't qualify.

He’s also not had nearly the success as Homa, particularly the last 3 or 4 years. 18 months ago, Homa was probably one of the 5 best players in the world and now he can barely make a cut. It’s a story on a day where the only thing on was college baseball and mlb

Are you saying Fowler hasn't had the same success in his career? If so, I'll argue hard there. Max is my favorite golfer, but he hasn't had Rickie Fowler's career. Your second part is accurate, though.

They’ve had essentially the same career

Highest OWGR
Rickie: 6
Homa: 5

PGA Tour wins:
Both 6

Rickie has the players, but Max has two Wells Fargo and a win a Riv and better Ryder Cup record.

Rickie has 1 win since 2019 and it was a against a horrible field at the Rocket Mortgage

The wins are close, but Rickie has the biggest win. Rickie also has over twice as many top 10s and three times as many top 5s. Rickie was runner up 15 times to Max's 1. He also has almost twice the career earnings. Sure, Rickie joined the tour 4 years earlier, but they are only 2 years different in age.

Again, I really like Max and don't enjoy arguing against him, but Rickie's career feels more well rounded than Max's.

Fowler has been down & out for much longer than Homa. They've had similar careers, but the recency bias favors Max on a slow news day

Right. I am not arguing the last 5 years. I was arguing full career.

He was a Ryder Cupper last cycle and was a top 10 player in the world no more than about 18 month ago. Certainly newsworthy in the golf world.

Hope he gets his game back.

Wrong, missed cut last year. Had he been top 10 would have been exempt for this year. Move along.

He was clearly talking about OWGR. Tried to own someone and was a dumbass instead. Tough scene!

Top 10 player in the world is what I meant, not his exact finish in the US Open.
