SFP syndrome. They look at numbers of people they never saw play and are righteously indignant over the injustice of it all.

Boom.

And SFP will still tell you that Jamarcus Russell was the best college QB in 2006.

P.S. Bo was not overrated. Had he just played football he would have been up there with Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith.

I saw Bo Jackson play against the Saints in the Superdome sometime in the late 80's, back when we had the #1 defense and the Dome patrol. His first two carries, he runs for over 20 yards per carry and moves the Raiders down the field with over 40 yards rushing in TWO plays. Now, this was back when the Saints were giving up like 60 yards per game rushing. It was unbelievable. NO ONE ran on the Saints like that, but he was just too fast and strong.

On his last carry, he tweaked/pulled a hamstring and did not return. I think the Saints won the game, but if Bo would have kept playing, I don't know what would have happened. That game kind of summed up his pro career. In two carries, he was unstoppable. But, then he gets hurt and can't finish the game and you're left wondering what might've been.

But, over 20 years later, I still remember those two carries and the helpless feeling I felt in the stands, wondering how we were going to stop that guy. THAT's why people who saw him play remember him as one of the best ever. Only Barry Sanders ever inspired that kind of feeling as a running back to me.

Only you Flagg and two others could bring up James in a running back thread. Gotta love the commitment!!

Well I just think the majority of the most freakish athletes are in basketball and those two are the top of this list in the current NBA.

I have no doubt Lebron would destroy people in the NFL. The only reason I would question Dwight is because he is getting a little too tall.

They say Howard has right at like a 40 inch vertical. That is just insane.

So basically you're comparing him to Reggie Bush, only he didn't win a college National Championship or Super Bowl like Reggie did.

Jerome Bettis and Marshall Faulk both repeatedly tore the Saints' D to shreds. Granted, those weren't the Dome Patrol defenses, but that's why we felt even MORE helpless against them.

BTW - The Saints fricking shut down Barry Sanders in his one Dome game. He didn't get shite. I want to say he had like 20 carries for 38 yards or something. He did have a receiving TD I think that was about 20 yards out but we dominated that game - and that was Ditka's first year when we were horrible.

and he would be correct.
Att Comp Pct Yds TD Int Rating
JR 342 232 67.8 3,129 28 8 167.0

TS 311 203 65.3 2542 30 6 161.91

Not much difference between JR and the Heisman winner.

And that is one example of why I like him as a top 5 rb of all time IMO. He had everything you wanted in a back. I know his numbers were not great but numbers are not what I look at first. I try to look at what each man brought to the table and go from there.

Yeah bc he was a decent wr in high school... Thats a joke. Bo proved it in two sports.

Bo's speed and stregnth (seeing that he never worked out) are much more impressive.

It was the Al Comeback Player of the Year. Not ROTY, my bad.
He also was the first player to make the All Star game and the Probowl.
