will they vote it down again?

With the extra emphasis on the false starts, and the fact the officials still aren’t calling them, I’d bet good money it’s getting voted out this offseason.

For everything negative you could say about Jalen Hurts, he has ridiculous lower body strength. Most teams don’t have a QB that can squat 600 pounds that can just get low and muscle their way forward. That’s why it works for the Eagles and not other teams.

Nothing to do with probably the best oline in the league or anything. Along with being shoved forward. Nah none of that.

Mike Leach wanted to throw midgets in short yardage situations.. true story

So, someone pull up the relevant rules against that. Seriously. Because google's AI says
quote:

No, it is not against the rules for an offensive player to throw another player forward, but a specific type of play like a "pass" or "lateral" is. Throwing a teammate forward is not considered a pass, it is considered assisting the runner and is legal as long as the player with the ball is still moving forward and hasn't been ruled down.
Legal plays
Assisting the runner: An offensive player can physically push or carry a teammate who has the ball to move them forward. This is legal as long as the player with the ball is still moving forward and their forward progress has not been stopped by the referee.
Illegal plays
Forward pass: It is illegal to throw a second forward pass on a single down. This includes a second pass thrown from behind the line of scrimmage.
Forward handoff: It is illegal to hand the ball forward to another player beyond the line of scrimmage. This is considered a forward pass and is not allowed after a player has advanced past the line of scrimmage.
Key takeaways
It is illegal to throw a forward pass for your teammate.
It is legal to physically push your teammate forward to assist them in advancing the ball

So, if the Saints wanted to pay Peter Dinklage a million dollars to suit up, and have Taysom Hill sling his arse over the line of scrimmage ... it appears to be legal.

Saints tried and they called a false start

They could call this on the Eagles about half the time if they would.

the rules are just different for certain teams.

The league used to allow the Seahawks to get away with illegal contact on defense way more than any other team

The league lets the Chiefs line up with their tackles off the line way more than any other team

The league lets the Eagles guards false start more than any other team

The midget throw for one yard seems like it would hoenstly be impossible to stop

Someone needs to sign my man Desmond Watson to the league minimum and use him on the goal line. He's only 437 lbs now.

Nah, he needs momentum and can't elevate.

The midget theory on the other hand... you get a smaller guy that somebody could hammer-toss over the pile, and it's unstoppable until you kill him. Might be some dudes willing to do so for a couple million bucks. Maybe not a midget, but some small-framed acrobat with hops on his own, and who knew how to land without breaking his neck and back. You'd probably figure out a way to get a good 10-12 ft elevation.

And I guess the question is, would it really be more hazardous than being in the middle of about a ton (2000 lbs) of guys pushing in either direction?
You'd have the "defenseless player" aspect, so linebackers can't blow him up on the way down. Then he just stays down when he lands; or his forward progress is stopped (you keep the gain).

If memory serves me, none other than offensive genius and innovator Mike Leach reached that same conclusion. It took others to convince him the optics for the program (I think he was at WSU) would be terrible. That doesn't mean he was wrong though.

It was always going to be outlawed after this year, the owners are petty and they see it as an Eagles unfair advantage.

How many teams have a quarterback that can squat over 600 pounds? That’s a big part of it.

Because the refs only let one team false start their guards.
