it would have to be located in like alexandria imo.

It doesn’t have to be in a big city at all. Some of the biggest name tracks with a lot of history are places like Darlington and others. Hell, I’m pretty sure Talladega is only like a few thousand people. It’s not like it couldn’t work in Louisiana. Obviously we’d have had to gotten on the circuit a while ago when NASCAR was a bigger deal but it is a little weird to me that we never had a race here.

Louisiana has terrible sports fans.

They don’t support anything but LSU football, consistently.

A NASCAR race through the streets of Lakeview would be a lot more interesting than most Nascar races.

LSU basketball
Has been dying and frustrating garbage up until about two years ago, the crowds have only gotten bigger since and we even had a sellout. We just won our first Tournament game in a literal decade, the support will only continue to grow.

You got me there. Yep, we have problem consistently supporting a shitty small market NBA team. Good thing you moved the goalposts to include the fricking Pelicans.

What's the deal with NOLA Motorsports Park? They only hosted one Indycar race.

For real. Imagine being a Nascar driver and you have to race on shite like this

That might actually make the races interesting.

I’m not talking necessarily about now. I’m talking about years ago when racing was still kinda big. Like the 70s when NASCAR was still kind of in its infancy.

I'm glad you had a good time at your first race. I predicted that someone would in a thread a few weeks ago. First races are often the best.

If LA couldn't muster one back in the 90's, it's too late now. And the way the sport has digressed in popularity, maybe it's a good thing that tax dollars weren't spent to support it. Who knows? Then again, half the fun is being a few hundred miles from most people who know you.

Anywho, there's plenty of existing tracks to go visit and have a good time on a mini-vacay.

I've been to Dega a dozen or so times, Daytona once, and Charlotte a couple times. Beware of the cookie cutter tracks, as it seems to me it would be like visiting the same track over and over, and to me the races at the Charlotte copies just aren't that exciting. Consider Bristol and Daytona.

Visit a dozen or so races, then share your opinion with us on whether LA should still be interested in building a track. By the way, in the 90's all those big backstretch stands were built, and were sold out. Today, they can't fill the front stretch stands. Unfortunately, the sport is missing on about 4 cylinders.

Going to the Coca-Cola 600 for my first race in a few weeks. Very, very pumped after that awesome Dega race Sunday.

Definitely next on the list, along with Darlington and Martinsville.

And about a dozen or so former stars that kept the old fans around. I doubt it'll ever come near the popularity it had mid 90s-mid 00s again, but I'm really liking the direction Jim seems to be taking, and Chase is finally starting to win some races. I'm cautious, but optimistic that it'll have something of a small rebound between new popular faces (Elliott, Blaney) and seemingly big changes coming in 2021 with Gen-7.

I did some thinking about this. The hard part would be where would it be on the calendar. You can’t have it during Mardi Gras. You don’t want to compete with LSU football or the Saints. The summers are a frickin sauna. So that leaves April or early May. And by that point you’re dependent on Mother Nature. Which she doesn’t like to cooperate during this time of year.

Too many factors preventing nascar from being in LA. You could have one in the fall but you’re relying on the NFL and LSU to have the off weekend.

I met with Gov Jindal's office and made a presentation on behalf of a group of investors, which included a famous LA Tech QB. Locations selected fell apart due to infrastructure and locals opposed to the noise.

I’m guessing this is the one that was shot down by Richwood residents due to noise. Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Shot down millions, because of noise...
