Why do Peyton and Eli have different accents?

Peyton has a southern accent.
Eli has a more neutral accent, maybe somewhat of a NOLA accent.
I find this very interesting.

Ward and Jeff Burton had different accents as well

I’ve always found Peytons to be more Southern as well and not a NOLA accent. Has to be he just talks more like his parents and Eli is more NOLA/suburb.

Peyton was a ballboy for the OILERS then lived in TN (college) Eli was NOLA and Ole Miss,,, even with the slight age difference they were exposed to different accents which may account for some of it

It seems like Eli’s got it, but that he actively tried to mask it some over the years.

Peyton talks like his parents
Eli’s accent has a broader influence of his peers more than likely

That's as good of an explanation as any but it's still a puzzler.

I'm enjoying this show immensely. I plan to watch it every week.

Wait Peyton and Eli are doing this every week?

It may be because Eli played in New York for 15 years and lost his southern accent over time.

"Peyton and Eli’s MegaCast broadcast will debut the first three weeks of 2021 MNF slate (Baltimore at Las Vegas, Detroit at Green Bay, and Philadelphia at Dallas) and continue seven other weeks during the season, to be announced."

You never lose the accent you grew up with. It's always there. If you don't use it it's because you choose not to. My sister hasn't lived in the south for 25 years and drops into it seamlessly when she comes back home

But I remember Eli at Ole Miss - his accent is the same as it is right now. Peyton's accent is the same as it was when he was an NFL Rookie.

Well, Eli and Peyton grew up in the same household.
But, yes, it's fair to say that they each chose their accent.

You can’t speak for everyone. My mom grew up in Germany but moved to the South in her 30’s. Her accent ABSOLUTELY changed. It doesn’t magically come back for her when she travels home to see family.

I have older siblings who have lived in different places as adults and have different accents. Mostly from adapting to where they lived.

Jeff said Ward's room was on the south side of the house.

My now late brother-in-law was born in Chalmette and lived there until his 20's before moving to Arkansas first, then Atlanta where he spent the rest of his life.
He had that Georgia drawl down pat so much so that you'd have thought he lived there all his life.
Same for a cousin of mine who was born in the Lower 9th Ward and live there until his mid 20's before moving to Golden Meadow. Within 2 years you'd have thought he was born and raised there as he picked up on Cajun French and developed that Bayou dialect.
