The Mets, Browns, Sac Kings, Marlins, Jets, to name a few. Yes they may have a brief period of success that their fans may point to, but their overall stories are just one of ineptitude. Is it just bad luck and management that becomes such a narrative it stays entrenched for decades and becomes THE culture? Because even when ownership changes with these organizations still seem to stay the same.

The original Browns sucked and then the team was moved to Baltimore where they have won 2 SBs. They’re cursed.

Because the owners don’t give a shite about winning or think they are the smartest people in the world

Most all teams in the major sports leagues turn profits regardless of output. That's basically all you need to know about the topic.

The Mets were in the world series in 2015...I get they are a disaster but your premise is a failure

The Marlins have won 2 world series in the past 100 years.
The Red Sox have won 3 world series in the past 100 years.

Not much dofference.

Some teams just don’t have good front offices and constantly make bad decisions.

The talent pool for players, coaches, and front office people is not large enough for the number of teams in the leagues. If MLB and NBA contracted a half dozen teams, you would have a much more competitive league.

Also, MLB has no salary cap, and NBA you can still spent plenty more than others if you are willing to pay the tax. Some owners are wealthier than others. Some owners in those leagues can, and want to, spend enough to win a lot. Others are just happy turning a nice profit.

The Jets and Browns have had some cheap GM hires, which resulted in bad drafts and trades. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Groh stayed with the Jets, but at least the Jets have been willing to fire bad coaches after 3-4 years. I think the Browns fire coaches too quickly.

Sports is a zero sum game. Most leagues have around 30 teams, so even if there was an even distribution of championships and all teams were run perfectly... you would only win one title every 30 years.

It's not a curse, it's just that some teams are gonna get punished by the math, and that's before we get into the fact some franchises are better. Or simply have more resources. It's harder to win in Cleveland, in any sport, than in New York.

Sac Kings

Not recently, but they had a really really good 5-8 year period with Webber, Bibby, Peja, Vlade etc. Got a bit unlucky running into the Lakers and also some people still think they got cheated out one year

Crappy owners and crappy management.
You need owners that are willing to spend money, and just sit on the sidelines and let management do its job. There are a lot of people with way more money than common sense who can't help but dick up their operation.

I feel like their issue has been bad qb play. They have had many many elite defenses in that time and fielded competitive teams most of those years, but simply couldn't score enough points.

The Mets and Marlins each have two World Series titles within the last 50 years... and the Mets have been to three other World Series.

Considering there are 30 MLB teams currently, that's more than their "fair" share.
