For me it's because my grandpaw used to take my dad to games as a kid, a couple a year. He became a fan that way and passed it on to me.

So basically because they are closest.

Before Fox Sports there was something called Home Sports Entertainment, later Prime, that would show a lot of Astros games in LA.

Plus games would always be on the radio here.

Lots of Texas dudes at lsu. I knew more lastros fans than braves fans. Also a mixture of Cubs fans like you said.

But they did suck back then.

Oh yeah then the Red Sox won and magically started seeing more Red Sox hats around.

I just love to troll the fanbase.

I know some Stros fans that didn’t know shite about the Bagwell/Biggio era. They constantly shite talk the Sox, think Houston is God’s gift to baseball, seem to have forgotten about the 2018 ALCS against Boston.

I hate Boston too. But damn, Houston has one asterisk title, and they think they’re the Yanks.

You have a legitimate complex against Houston. Where did the city touch you?

I've never cared for any Atlanta sports team or any Houston sports team. Life long Dodgers fan. New York Giants football fan. This year isn't going well for me.

You spend a lot of time talking to people under the age of 20?

I think the Astros are the BR areas team. I think the majority of people who watch baseball in the area are Astros fans. Followed by Braves, Cubs, and Yankees

Braves are only 8 hours away and are the team of the South. TBS was a huge part as well.

My family used to go to Braves games almost every summer for a vacation, we never went to Houston.

MLB tv is the greatest invention, $100 a year and I get to watch every Braves game.

Hasn’t been that real connection
There is quite a few. A lot of that is oil business. As you get East the pull somewhat declines. Baton Rogue not like Lake Charles and Lafayette
People have connections to Houston or have lived there themselves. BR is on the other side of the state so you see a slight pull but there isn’t a single baseball team that dominates the area
You see Dodgers, Yankees, Cubs, Astros, Braves and Red Sox fans. Astros probably have the most. Alex Bergman helps here as well.
You never saw the Astros put a minor league club here and never saw them really market themselves as the team of Baton Rogue.

I was a Giants fan as a kid because of Will Clark.

I did watch all the Braves and Cubs games though.

In Louisiana, we are free agents as fans. Houston doesn’t give a flying shite about our state, root for whoever you like.
