Ruiz put in some language that protected Miami in case he reneged on the contract (a buy-out/break fee if you will)

It wouldn’t seem like a school themselves can put something like that into a contract but who knows, the rules for this shite change by the day.

My guess is UF boosters realized they were massively overpaying and backed out of whatever the real amount owed was

What was Miami offering him?

What was everyone else offering him?

Based on Mike Ryan on Lebatard Miami homer whining Rashada definitely played those two against each other for the highest bidder. It seems like Florida was low on the agreed upon "signing bonus" and that blew things up.

I've heard of a couple stories similar to this one. Kid gets promised all this money, but as soon as its time to pay up the donors back out and the kid is stuck at the school for at least that year. I think until now a lot of kids have just kept quiet about it knowing they can transfer to not ruffle any feathers for their next NIL opportunity. Not this one lol. He went public as soon as the bag wasn't all the way filled to the top

some of these kids will find out it's hard to get NIL from the bench...

How is this shite show his fault? This on on the UF boosters for being so fricking stupid they believed all the wild numbers coming from message board posters causing them to panic and promise $13m they didn't have to a 4* HS

Yes because he is somehow the only head coach in the country that doesn't know what nil money is being paid to whom

He might be a bigger idiot if he didn't think the kids were getting stacks and that they were coming for the "culture" or whatever bullshite catch phrase him and his 75 person staff came up with

part of me hopes that no one pays him. These kids have such a stranglehold on this NIL stuff and this example has shown how out of hand some of these situations are. Yes Florida has some explaining to do but kids basing their decisions solely on NIL should have consequences. Not rooting for an 18 year olds downfall but he should be looked at as the sheep for how not to handle your recruitment
This is silly

If you're offered $13 mil at 18 years old, you take that deal. Not sure what other point you're trying to make by blaming the kid here.

he had a shred of self-awareness, he'd pick a school and not take any NIL money until after his freshman year
Can you explain why?

Why would I want to watch Amateur athletes play for a school they committed to based on who gave them the most money?

Yes, you're right. This is 100% a new phenomenon.

Kids like this don’t understand the long game. If you’re good enough NFL money dwarfs NIL money. Go to the college with the best shot at NFL money if that is your motivator. Then, shockingly, the NIL money will come as well.

Not necessarily. Go hard in the magic portal for that QB this spring. Isn't that LSU's strategy these days?

Are you saying there is a chance LSU will sign Jaden Rashada this Spring?

His son doesn’t want to leave Jackson, MS, for some reason.

Read that back and tell me it makes sense.

Shedeur, the QB is already in Colorado. His other son was upset because he was doing pretty good at South Carolina, but he transferred to Jackson to specifically follow his Dad. I believe he was the one who felt blindsided by all this. He's expected to transfer after he graduates in the spring, but has yet to make an official commitment to Colorado.

The long game is that even in the SEC, only a very small percentage will ever see 10's of millions from an NFL salary. For most(like more than 95%) this is it.

A number that On3 makes up based on social media followers which means very little in terms of buying recruits via NIL.
LMAO what? He has 14k followers on Twitter and 26k on IG. He would be lucky to make a few hundred bucks a post with that following.

Also wtf is a On3?
