Sylvia had lost 2 out of 3 in the UFC. His next fight after Fedor he lost to Ray fricking Mercer in 9 seconds. Pretty sure it is safe to say he had lost his drive.

So again who were these awesome UFC heavyweights that he was ducking?

Dan Henderson at 185

Not the same level of fighter as Nogueira

Fedor and Randy are pretty close in size though. I still wish they would have fought back then. Not as much as Barnett vs Fedor, but I still would have liked to have seen it. Fedor let his crazy management frick everything up though. And I know he was scheduled to fight Barnett, but the fact is they never ended up fighting.....ever. He fought no one, for a very long time and I don't see how anyone can say different. I would have been interested to see if fighting in the UFC cage would have hurt him or helped him. It obviously made a big difference for some of the pride guys. the different rules as well.

That was a very questionable decision both guys were inexperienced when the fought that first time. IIRC Nog beat him pretty easily when they fought again in Pride

Hendo TKO'd Fedor 2 years ago. I don't know what you are talking about.

Hendo beat Fedor....beat him fair and square (let me just get that out of the way before I continue on and discredit Hendo)

With that being said Hendo got a lucky fricking punch in and is not the better fighter. Yes Hendo beat Fedor, but Fedor >>>>> Hendo.

Lol@ Arlovski "winning" for 3 min of a 25 min fight, then absolutely get decimated with a bomb and not making it out of the 1st.

Yep.... Hendo beat Fedor fair and square. It was a damn good scrap and Hendo caught him right on the button when he wasn't expecting it. There aren't many fighters that would have survived that shot.

IMO Fedor wins the majority of the time, but we will never know.

Something people keep neglecting is the fact that Fedor was extremely undersized and dominated a division run by guys 3-4" taller and 20-30 lbs heavier.

So? Not everyone's prime is the same. If you honestly think the Fedor of 2005 would lose to guys like Big Foot Silva then I don' know what to tell you.

I don't think Fedor was past his prime as much as he was fighting good fighters and got caught.

I wasn't trying to say that Hendo is better then Fedor. I'm saying his name at 185 pounds is just as big as Big Nog's at HW. And the same can be said about lucky punches with both AA and Timmay. Its fighting it happens. I know. Never said Fedor wasn't the best HW for a time. I agree. He was. Just google Fedor's name and look at the guys he fought after big Nog in Dec 2004. That is all I'm saying. He was supposed to be the best fighter in the world and he wasn't fighting other top fighters when he fought them. There is no disputing that. It did not happen. Hell, some of those fights were fricking embarrassing shite like the fight with that 7ft Asian guy. There is no defending that. Anderson has always fought one of the top contenders in his weight class for virtually every fight he has had since going to UFC. Fedor did not, for a very long time.

He was wreck less against Werdum, he got dominated by a much larger man against Silva and he got caught by one of the most powerful punchers in MMA against Hendo.

I think I'm today's MMA, where everyone is more skilled and better athletes, Fedor would have to compete at LHW or MW.

Only brought that up to point out AA got caught. Just like Fedor did against Hendo.
