I've seen a bunch of good ones, and probably can't remember them all, but obviously Shaq and Chris Jackson stand out as far as LSU players. Michael Jordan and Karl Malone are the best non-LSU players, and best overall, though Dominique Wilkins, Darrell Griffith, and Joe Dumars still stand out as having impressed me greatly at the time I saw them. I was on the floor behind the basket when LSU played Georgetown in the Dome in '88 or '89, whatever year that was ... they weren't particularly great that day, but Mutombo and Mourning were very imposing to watch.

Yea he was a stud.
Melo is a good one, as is Durant.

I haven't seen a lot of elite college BB play in person to be honest but Griffin was just nasty.

The two best teams I have ever seen didn't win a title
88 OU
91 UNLV
Those teams were just scary good.

Good one -lol. Remind me what college he attended?
I'm going with Larry Bird. For crying out loud, he single handedly carried INDIANA STATE to the NCAA championship.

Chris Jackson was fun to watch, but I gotta go with Shaquille.

Pistol Pete back in the day....
The most amazing thing about Pistol Pete might be this:
Dale Brown looked at tape of every one of Pistol's college games. He concluded that if there would have been a three point line back then, Pete would have AVERAGED 13 three point shots PER GAME! His career NCAA scoring average would have been 57 PPG!!
This is simply mind boggling.

At the College level, Christian Laettner is going to be hard to top. I saw him play live against St. Johns in the second round of the 92 tourny. Shaq was obviously going to be better, but Laettner was better in college at the time.

Laettner, Hill, and Brand for sure IMO. Probably Battier too. Irving would be if he had at least played a full season probably.

Live would definitely be Pete Maravich, followed by Calvin Natt of NLU and Shaq.

Durant wasn't near polished enough as a college player. He doesn't belong in this discussion IMO.

Off the top of my head I'll say Melo.

Yeah, a ton of people are getting named that were waaaay better pros then they were in College. Laettner, Bird, Magic, Pistol, Alcindor, Wilt those are the names we should talk about.
