Cristobal would be scary good at USC.
USC is the Texas of the Pac12. He's turning Oregon into the OU of it. I'd stay at Oregon and keep stealing some of Cali's best players, just like OU does with Texas kids every year.

That Oregon roster is littered with guys from some of the best programs in Cali. Schools like Oaks Christian, Serra, Mater Dei, Upland, Norco, Narbonne, St. John Bosco, Calabasas, Antelope Valley, Rancho Cucamonga, Christian Brothers.

He's getting the best kids from Utah, really good ones from Arizona, multiple kids from Alabama, Georgia, Colorado, and Hawaii. Plus kids from Miss, NY, NJ, Tenn., NC, Nebraska, Virginia, Illinois, and one Louisiana kid from Warren Easton.

Only has a couple of Florida kids right now, but the success they're having might change that. Wouldn't surprise me if he tries to cherry pick more of those Florida kids.

Already have the No. 7 class for 2022. It includes a 5-star from Texas and 4-stars from Cali, Washington, Alabama, Arizona and Texas. Only two Oregon kids in the class. The number of Oregon kids on the team right now is under 20. Bet that number drops, if they make the CFB Playoff.

You're (mostly) correct. Oregon is killing it in recruiting because the biggest competition in the conference has been Helton's USC, and Helton's USC is finished. If USC lands a marquee guy like Cristobal, his ceiling will be much higher at SC than at Oregon.

I think Fickell is the more likely candidate, but Mario would be marvelous.

i think they hire Fickell

Cristobal will be the better coach.

of the group of coaches everyone is talking about

Fleck
Campbell
Fickell
Napier
Chadwell

I believe Fickell and Campbell will be least successful at the big schools. Goes back to recruiting and not leaving midwest and in fickell case....not leaving ohio.

Oregon is getting players from everywhere now. Mario will benefit more from the league being strong than the 1-2 recruits he loses because of a strong USC presence.

JTTs and DJUs of the world need to stay home. Net effect will be better.

Pac needs two top-heavy teams.

League sources believe Chiefs' OC Eric Bieniemy will emerge as a head-coaching candidate for USC. Bieniemy is from Southern California and has told confidantes in the past, that USC is one of the only college jobs that might interest him.

I don't doubt that urban would be interested, but I can't see SC hiring him. The administration wants a coach that isn't going to embarrass the school, off the field

I don’t see Eric as a great HC… some guys are just better as assistants.

I love these: "I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy...and they said..."

I mean it COULD happen (Saban lasted a cup of coffee time in the NFL) and Petrino bolted the Falcons...but Meyer has spent two seconds in the NFL...and what is he making, $12 million a year?

I'm going out on a limb, I think they at least give Katie Sowers an interview.

I can see USC wanting to be the first Power 5 school with a female and LBGT head coach.

Now maybe it's only a 5% chance, but it's still a chance.

EDIT* for those unaware, she is an assistant coach for the Chiefs and also spent time with the 49ers and Falcons. So she does have NFL experience and with the California area.

Honestly, I wanted him at Oregon (glad we have Cristobal though). I don’t think his schtick would do well on the left coast. Maybe it would in SoCal but most in the Oregon fanbase can’t stand him. Also, Fleck has some kind of custody arrangement that would make it hard to pull him too far from the Midwest.

Two days after Cowherd claimed he was told Franklin had not shown interest, and USC would prefer not to pay significant buyouts.
