Gary Kubiak.
Parlayed it into two head coaching gigs.

I wonder how much Flynn made off those contracts???

Just looked it up, not as much as I thought. $17.5 million so definitely awesome money, but for some reason I thought his career earnings were closer to $40 million.

Cute answer
Same logic allows the mention of Tom Brady.

Jeff Rutledge. Rams 9th round pick in 1979. Lasted from 1979-93 where he was mainly a holder. Went to three Super Bowls 1979 with the Rams(loss), 1986 Giants(won), and 1991 Redskins(won). Threw 526 career passes for 3,628 yards with 16 TDs and 29 INTs.

That’s pretty good money. Wonder if he has used it wisely. I know he started a sports drink thing…

Not really. Young spent years as a backup then got his chance to shine. Seems like the best backup career to me.

Tyrod Taylor’s had a good run.
Started for 5 different teams at one point. Career QB Rating of 88. Much better than I would’ve expected coming out of college.

I would’ve said Flynn bc he got that one great game to tell his grandkids about and a bunch of money.
But it appears Chase Daniel made more money over a longer backup career.

One that I hadn't seen mentioned, Kelly Holcomb. Backed up Peyton in Indy for a year or two, then went to Cleveland and eventually beat out Tim Couch. Almost had an incredible comeback against the Steelers in the playoffs. Then played for the Bills and another team.

Does Flynn still have that GB touchdown record? That was a pretty sweet stat to have on a backup resume
