Will he be the King Kong Mack Daddy of golf or will he get paid big-time to go away?

I can't believe the PGA Tour players didn't run Jay out of town from the onset. It took LIV being created for him to all of the sudden find another $54million for their PIP? Where was that money all this time? There are only 2 options: Jay was either withholding that money from the players or, he was too lazy all these years to solicit those funds from the sponsors. But the PGAT players just bought that whole, "Whoopsie! Lookie here! We just found $50 million in the couch cushions!" story from Jay. His arse should have been gone immediately.

agreed After the CNBC interview the tour players should kicked him to the curb, he stabbed every single one of them in the back.

LIV is poaching “top players” that will never shine as bright as Tiger. Golf had one superstar and he is washed. They can spend all they want, and when the PGA “lets them in” it won’t matter. None of them are good enough to make that relevant again regardless of who they play for.

I used to like Norman back in the day, but by all accounts he is a huge a-hole and always has been one.

From numerous accounts over the past few yrs, he's not very popular amongst the PGA's big sponsors. The younger tour players don't really know him & the older players aren't exactly buddy with him, he's always remained distant since he's retired from the tour & spends most of his time home in Australia.

He also turns 70 next year. He won't be around the game in a meaningful way much longer no matter what happens with LIV and the Tour.

no shite. Tiger is one of the top 2 golfers of all time. If this is the standard you use, you’re insane.

Greg Norman better hope the Saudis don’t turn on him and charge him with fraud.
The term “heads will roll” means something entirely different in Saudi Arabia.

Maybe I missed something, but are people supposed/allowed to ask questions only if the answer affects their life decisions going forward?

It’s crazy how a new TV deal makes revenues increase

This deal was for about 680 million per year. The previous deal from 2011 was for 400 million per (in addition to the Golf Channel deal).

It's not like they were coming off some 50 million dollar deal. They had the money and should have raised purses. Even the biggest PGA Tour die hards should not be defending Jay Monohan and act like they couldn't raise purses without a new deal. He's the worst commissioner in the history of modern sports.

The raised purses literally was on the verge of bankrupting the tour…..They had to go in reserves and bring in private equity

Y’all realize that right?

Pre Saudis offering Monopoly money I’m confident this board would have voted Jay and the tour one of the best ran sports orgs. It’s so damn fake to not realize the opposition is the entirety of the “issues” with the tour

For the worst commissioner in sports it is wild yourself nor anyone on this board started a single thread about all the failures of jay before a trillion dollar competitor came in throwing around money that can’t possibly be matched

Golf was at an all time high in both viewership and public play under Jay Monahan. It’s such a fallacy to “blame” him for an entity spending billions of dollars completely detached from any ROI
