We never really played any "standout" teams in basketball or baseball. Probably best team in basketball was Vidalia from our district. They had a guard named Torrey Dixon, forward Gary Stewart (Northwestern St.) and another big man that I can't remember his name. Only other team I can think of would be Pickering and John Isaac.

Baseball same thing with no really stand out teams. Best player though was MJ Patterson (LSU football commit) from Winnfield.

Basketball
Memphis White-Station
Final 4 of the State Championship

Ernest Shelton who played for Bama and a freshman named Dane Bradshaw who went to UT who absolutely killed us. Shelton had a quiet 20-25 points but Bradshaw tore it up.

We beat Mario Moore (Antioch) who played at Vandy in the opening round.

John Curtis my sophomore year (2 years ago) in football and they were unbelievable studs all over. Evangel was really really god this year. Best player I played against is easily jeryl brazil. Dude tore us up when we played him this year and was the fastest person I've ever seen in person. Impossible to tackle.

Basketball (4A Alabama): Brewbaker Tech

KT Harrell did a 360 windmill on a fastbreak during our playoff game with them. I think we lost by 45. They were #1 team in the state and Top 50 nationally. Couple of their other players went on to play smaller school ball. Harrell was at UVA, started some games as a freshman, then transferred to Auburn. Had to sit out this year.

Any of you fools played Catholic league basketball in the mid 2000's? Brother Martin's DJ and company all tore up D1-3 and of course DJ is a current member of the Indiana Pacers.

My father wod say the Jesuit teams he pitched against when Rusty Staub played. He still says he was the greatest Ayer he ever playe against.

I was a freshman at Jesuit when they had those teams with Will Clark and the rest. I had no shot of making the team. I played my junior and senior year and we stunk after those guys. Will was a senior my junior year and opponents walked him every time. I think he had 16 official at bats that year and hit 500.

The best guy I ever played against was probably Dan Wagner (I think that was his name) for Rummel. He came up to bay and I was playing third base and basically played just on the outfield grass when he came up. He laughed and said he was going to bunt for a single and I told him he was more than welcome to.

Probably Ruston HS in 1982 or 83. Lost to them in the Play-offs. Michael Brooks played on that team and several other D1 signees.

I am. I was a 165 lb DB in HS. Tell Hoyle I've still got bruises. I learned the hard way not to attempt to tackle him from the front.

Tell him an old competitor from SW LA said hello next time you see him.
