I remember the MVC being a top-six MBB conference for a few years in the late 00s. WSU, Bradley, Missouri State, Creighton, SIU, and maybe one or two others that fail me at the moment. But they all fielded some really strong teams.

There were all the allegations that Gregg Marshall was abusive toward his players

Punched a player at practice, started choking one of his assistants, berated a student-athlete for parking in his reserved spot on accident, mocked a Native American player, etc. He had to go.

They hired Brown because he was having a fairly successful run as the interim, and it backfired because he wasn't truly a good coach. Marshall and the staff he had were very good at finding under-ranked/valued recruits, which is more difficult to replicate than it sounds. Mills is a solid coach and should be able to push them back to the upper half of the American in a few years.

One allegation said he told a Native American player to “get back on his horse” and made “Indian howling noises”

That 2014 team with VanVleet, Baker and Early was so fun to watch.

Wichita St was tired of winning so they ran off their great coach so the players could all have ice cream cones after practice.

No. The weak players are the ones who allowed another man to physically abuse them( like the Coach at Rutgers). Certain tap dancing players can't wait to touch the hem of some coaches garments so I shouldn't be surprised they allow themselves to be abused by them.

Feel free to weep for Wichita St.

I’ll pass though.

The kid from Heights, TJ Williams, they signed is going to be big for them. Kids a stud. I’ve watched him play a lot the last few years

They were really good in baseball in the 80s-90s as well. They fell off the map.

Yep, when I saw the thread title, I came to post, “Whatever happened to Wichita State baseball?”

It's more than just Gregg Marshall.

The entire team transferred in one cycle 2 yrs ago because Wichita State had/has no NIL to speak of and all of those dudes wanted to get paid.

Every time you post I move closer to the realization that you are borderline insane.

This is definitely part of it, but the NIL would have been in a better position with Marshall because of his relationship with some high-level donors (aka the Koch Brothers).

They’ve done great when they can convince local kids to go there. Evan Wessel from Heights was the perfect player for them back in that run in the 2010’s. He was starting ahead of Baker in that 2012-13 year before he got hurt. Baker obviously was a key part to the Final Four run, just weird that he wasn’t a starter at the beginning of the year.
