Florida did not physically intimidate teams.
Auburn scored 30+ on Florida three years in a row running a downhill I with heavy backs like James Bostic and Stephen Davis.
Could Florida score? Absolutely. Did they have guys who made you worry about a hospital trip? No, not really.

Florida also had a tendency to get embarrassed in ways that rarely happened with Johnson’s Miami, Bowden’s FSU, Saban’s Bama.

They gave up 17.5ppg for the decade, (11th nationally). Miami, a team you said was way more intimidating and physical on D gave up 16.4, (8th). A 1.1ppg difference in a much weaker conference. You haven’t provided any facts to support the things you say.

bin Laden kept Florida from winning the SEC that year, but nobody outside of an NFL team was going to beat Miami in 2001.

for people saying bob stoops.....give me a break.....spurrier won at DUKE, florida, and south carolina.....bowden didnt win many nattys..2 i think and coached a hell of a lot longer....osborne didnt win even 1 until about 20 years after he had been there. paterno won like 1 in 100 years.....there was no nick saban to compare to...while osborne got on a roll in the 90s one was a split with UM.....Spurriers gators were great because of him...he wasnt carried by his coordinators...bob stoops or not...hell how many nattys did stoops get on his own? 1

side note what if spurrier ever had a real qb? grossman was the closest thing. but after his nfl career wrapped up he wasnt that great.. sure danny was the great college qb but what if peyton manning had gone to florida?? oddly spurrier never really had a great qb

Allow me to quote you: “People who witnessed that era can tell you nodody was more feared in college football.”
Not “Florida was feared” or “Florida was one of the most feared.” Florida was the most feared.

FSU: 2 national titles and 7-4-1 record vs. the Gators.
Nebraska: 3 national titles and gave Florida one of the most embarrassing losses in the history of CFB in their lone matchup with the Gators.
Florida was not as successful as these programs or as intimidating.
Period.
