OP didn't say since 1980, he said historically. Yes, since 1980/Hayden Fry I agree with you. A lower Top 25 program. Miami and FSU by most every metric are still top 15-20 programs going back to 1936 and the poll era.

It kinda looks like the Big 10 has gone 0-3 since the OP. Texas, Utah, and Miami on top.
FWIW the SEC will definitely lose at least one game tomorrow since Georgia and Ole Miss play again.
And TBH I wouldn't mind seeing someone new win the national championship since it would be such an incredible memory for fans of teams like Texas Tech and Indiana. Although I can't quite bring myself to add Ole Miss to the list
