Some unfortunate hires meant LSU played quite a few noon games on JP

They should either realign their divisions power imbalance be damned or ideally just get rid of them completely and go to a pod system. The way it's set up right now guarantees poor attendance for every single school.

I agree with you, but at the end of the day, this still wouldn’t fix the ACC. The ACC is a Frankenstein conference of original teams, Metro teams, and Big East teams. It exists in its current format solely to pilfer some cable dollars, and once those cable dollars are gone, it’ll collapse.

Eventually, schools like Syracuse will decide it’d be nice to win their conference every once in awhile and to have a championship game in MetLife stadium or their tournament in MSG again. If you look at northeast teams’ upcoming OOC opponents, there is already a clear desire to play regional rivals again. UConn leaving the American was a precursor to what you’ll see when the cable dollars dry up for the power conferences.

Also, taking UL over WVU was a massive mistake b/c it essentially neuters their ability to make a Northern division w/rivalry games

Did they take UL over WVU? My memory is that WVU had left the for the Big XII already and that UL would still be in the American had Maryland not left for the Big XII.

Nothing. Taggart was just a bad hire. It happens.

And USC? Never had any problems? No bad hired?

Their facilities are garbage from what I understand, so that doesn't help.

Easy fix! Take the garbage out to the dumpster! Then force the AD to get a replacement.

They need to get rid of the head Booster guy who thought he was above Jimbo. The alum from the 70s have run that program into the ground. They are obsessed with never having a HC bigger than the program, ever again, after the Bowden retirement saga.

The dude won you a NC, at any other SEC school they would have been like "whatever you want, Mr. Jimbo." Head booster got his feelings hurt because Jimbo didn't treat him with enough respect or whatever.

The AD is a bean counter who is the President's buddy.

Too much buddy buddy down there...get rid of the legacies, and hire some cold blooded, modern day professionals.

He was supposed to be a short term hire to balance the books before he and Pres Thrasher retired. This Wuhan pneumonia mess will probably keep both of them on another year. Thrasher has done a great job as Pres, but I'm looking forward to someone from the outside taking over as ad

Yeah, having West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, and Pitt in a northern division would have been pretty awesome. It also sucks geographically to lose Maryland.

Right now, divisions should be:
North
Boston College
Syracuse
Pitt
Virginia
Virginia Tech
Wake Forest
Louisville

South
Duke
North Carolina
NC State
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Miami
Florida State

FSU doesn’t have the big money behind it that other powers do.

I think the emergence of the directional Florida schools is also hurting them massively. If the talent in central FL can stay in Orlando or Tampa and be on TV that is a problem.

As mentioned, the ACC is not a football conference and no one has any interest even in market in watching the games unless it’s ND, Clemson or FSU.

FSU and Clemson would be perfect for the SEC, but politics and TV money make it very unlikely that will ever happen.

That said, the window is still wide open to win 10+ games every year without really doing anything due to schedule.

They have access to plenty of talent, they just need the right coach. No one in Tallahassee has found or developed a QB in a decade and the OL play has been atrocious.

Their current status will only last as long as they remain incompetent.

Most of the big talent is leaving the state than staying home. As well as UCF has done the last few years they aren't getting blue chip recruits.

Why would you want SEC teams to beat each other up during the season? You don't want the conference to be too strong for its own good

Cincinnati, Boise State even Tulane are kicking the Florida G5 schools' asses in recruiting. It's bizarre

Reverting back to their old logo would be a good start.

I’m not arguing the blue chip kids aren’t leaving, I’m saying you could win 10 games a year in the ACC signing 2nd tier FL kids if you have functional QB and OL play.

The Noles are having to fight with UCF and USF for kids who they didn’t have to put any effort into before, much less winning the battles with Bama, UGA, Clemson etc for guys like Tim Smith and Derrick Henry.

They are going up against programs like Ole Miss, UNC and GT right now. It sucks but that happens when they program goes off a cliff. If Norvell can show something his first year they can start getting some talent

I remember when FSU could’ve joined SEC, but Bowden was too scared of the competitiveness.

The ACC took Louisville over UConn. WVU had already joined the Big 12 before dominos fell in the ACC with Maryland leaving

They are cheap. I thought it was known that as far as big time programs go they are one of the known cheapest when it comes to supporting their football program
