It's true though. Maybe the Camback but those are the 2 worst.

'86.....Buckner , Mookie , Knight

Followed by Dyson 1 yard short in '99 SB.

frick! They both still hurt today. Especially the Sox in '86. My Grandmother got me a highlight tape of the '86 WS on VHS for Christmas that year that came with an SI subscription. To this day I don't know is she knew the highlight tape was part of the deal or if she knew and was just rubbing that shite in!

Born and raised in upstate NY in a family full of Yankee or Mets fans. I came out retawded (is what they called me) and loved the Sox from day one.

I will never, ever get over 2011 ALCS. No A&M loss ever really cuts me deep because I expect us to Aggy up pretty much everything. But I waited my entire life for that play. Used to sit next to the radio listening to the Rangers be awful all throughout my childhood, me and my college roommates were ready to go to NG and get hammered as soon as Nelly caught the ball, but...nope.

I would say Kick-Six except I was working that day so I didn't get to experience the event live. I just heard about the loss when I came home. For me, the worst loss was the Ravens divisional playoff loss against the Colts in '06. That '06 Ravens team was better than both the '00 and '12 Super Bowl teams. The worst part is that the defense played terrific. They held Manning to something like 15-30, 170 yards, 0 TDs and 2 INTs. If your defense holds Manning to those numbers, your team should win going away. But the offense was held to something like 250 total yards against a mediocre Colts defense and was atrocious in the red zone. It was a gut-wrenching loss.

I forgot about this game. This might actually be my #1. LSU had an incredible team but that loss was inexcusable. You have the more experienced team playing at home as well as a better QB. How do you not win that game? Also keep in mind, pretty much everybody thought Bama was done after this game. Nobody saw Oklahoma State losing to Iowa or Oregon losing at home to USC. The loss to LSU in the regular season 2011 was by far the least satisfying national championship out of the bunch. It's hard to feel too much satisfaction when you win a NC after not even winning your division.

21-0

This is a no-brainer for me.

2nd place might be the Astros choking in the playoffs last season against the Royals.

There are plenty of 2nd place contenders though, nothing else in the running for the worst.

What the royals did in Houston this past year was pretty rough to watch. Especially since I was watching in class.

i grew up taking an annual 4 hour trip to Arlington to watch a game with my dad every year. we went to nolan's last game, first week of the Ballpark in Arlington. Lots of memories there.

i had him queued up to call with 1 strike left and then that happened. i never made the call.

Our summer vacation most years was a weekend series, so I also had my dad queued up twice when they were 1 strike away. I had a knock at my door by a sheriff's deputy at 5 AM the next morning, my dad had an accident. I was worried tried calling, finally got my mom... my dad spilled coffee on himself when he was backing out of the carport and jumped out of the car. When doing this his foot got hung up in the seat belt somehow and he never took his truck out of gear. So it drug him across the driveway until he hit the fence. He was ok, in fact the only reason they took him to the hospital was because of the second degree burns on his legs. To this day when he says something about my driving when he rides with me my response is I guess we aren't all talented enough to run ourselves over.

It is a tie between 01 UT and 03 FSU for me. 01 was more sad and 03 was more mad. Gator fans know what I am talking about.

The whole point of a BCS vs a playoff was every game was supposed to matter, this season proved that was a sham. Bama was a great team no doubt and probably the "best" team even after that loss, but i could list several "better" teams that did not win the MNC in CFB because they had a loss and or didn't get a rematch. What really kills me is back in 2001 when Nebraska made the BCS CG despite not winning their division i said it was BS a team that did not even win its division made it and again in 2003 when OU made it despite getting skull dragged in the CCG but now if I say 2011 Bama should not have been in I get accused of sour grapes

This is why 1/9/12 is FAR and AWAY the #1 in this category for me. I may never get over that game, even if we were to Beat Bama in a future NC game 63-0*

The Saints loss to SF a few days later was also tough to take, more so the following day when GB lost and the reality that we have hosted the NFCCG sank in ending a horrific sports week. Ironically the Saturday before the BCS CG was great watching the Texans win their first playoff game and then the Saints pound Detroit fronm a bar in the Quarter.

prior to that 1/3/93 was the worst sports day of my life. We left my friends place in Metairie to go to the Saints-Eagles game right after Bubba McDowell ran back a pick 6 to but the Oilers up 35-3. When we got in the dome we saw Al Del Greco kicking a FG to TIE it at 38 only to see Buffalo win in OT, then the Saints blew a 20-7 lead to lose to Philly. Before 2009 and 2011, the 1992 Saints were their best team IMO.

*ETA true LSU fans will get the significance of 63-0

I'm over it.

Phil choking at the 2006 US Open is still the most heartbreaking for me.

Let me put it this way, every January when the 8th rolls around...the following day is the 10th and will always be since 1/9/12. It still stings.

The Mavs blowing a 2-0 lead in the 2006 Finals. They were up 12 with five minutes left in game 3 and then Dwayne Wade proceeded to shoot a billion FTs to close out the series.

The 2005 blowout loss to Iowa State at Kyle was miserable too.

In hindsight, the 2012 loss to LSU because it probably cost us the national title. fricking Bertolet missing FGs and Trey Williams getting run down on that kick return.

A&M losing in the Sweet 16 in 2007 on a missed Acie Law layup.

the Darrell Mitchell buzzer beater in 06 was a back breaker in aggieland too. Gillespie had just started the train rolling

was that the same season a&m won their first game in Lawrence?

A&M loses a close one to LSU, LSU loses a close one to Alabama, Alabama loses a close one to A&M. Bama wins the NC, there is no justice in this world
