The Yankees aren't really that hated anymore since they've stopped winning championships. They've only won one World Series over the last 17 years. The Red Sox are a lot more hated than them due to their lousy fan base and even that hate has greatly died down since Theo and Tito left. I don't think that baseball has that one universally hated team anymore. There's certainly no baseball team that is hated as much as the Patriots and Warriors.

Not always so. Back in the day you loved the Celtics or Lakers and hated the other. Same for Yankees and Dodgers. Same for Steelers and Cowboys.
A lot of people temporarily "love" Clemson because they beat Alabama.
I hate the teams that are always on television even though they suck but they're "storied franchises," like the Knicks, Lakers and Cowboys. And teams that are transparently dirty but get away with it, like North Carolina.
