What happened to Evangel football?

This year they are 2-6 so far and are being beaten down. Last year they were 0-7 including a 52-0 loss to West Monroe and a 51-0 loss to Lafayette Christian. They stunk the year before that too.
What happened to them? They use to be a powerhouse and was going to the Super Dome every year.
Did the creation of Calvary high school hurt them? What about going to the private school playoff brackets? Did they crack down on their recruiting in the Shreveport metro?

At one point in the mid to late 90’s I wanna say they were ranked number 2 in the nation only behind De Lasalle (Pittsburgh, CA) who won like 189 games in a row or something like that.
