He really doesn't bring anything substantial to the table. He talks about being lazy and eating food.

The crew should be Darren Daulton, Kruk and Lenny Dykstra. I would tune in to watch that.

ESPN wants him to be the white, baseball version of Barkley.

Kruk, Mitch Williams and Lenny Dykstra would be great.

National broadcast for baseball suck. The announcers rarely know anything about the teams and to any fan of a team playing (which is going to be most of the people watching) they (poorly) discuss things that the local guys and beat writers have already completely fleshed out.

It seems like a majority of the color analysts for baseball are awful while the play by play guys usually do a nice job. I really liked Jon Miller when he did ESPN games. Joe Buck is usually solid. Dan Shulman is very good. I've always been a fan of Bob Costas calling baseball games going back to his NBC days. But most of the big name color guys from McCarver to Morgan to Kruk are awful. There are a few local guys who are very good. I've been blessed to hear Jim Palmer's commentary with the Orioles for a long time and he's absolutely outstanding. Jerry Remy with the Red Sox is another good one. The color guy for the Giants is top notch. Bob Brenly is another terrific color guy. But all in all, they seem to be the exceptions to the rule. I don't know why it's so much more difficult to find a knowledgable color analyst in baseball than a good play by play guy. Maybe they have a hard time following all of the teams. But if that's the case, they shouldn't be doing national games anyway.
