They both make more through their TV deals than Notre Dame does with NBC.

ND $9 Million
Northwestern $15 Million
Vandy $17 Million

The TV deal argument has always been a reason why they wont join the Big10, but this seems interesting.

Both are the only private schools in their respective conferences.

I wish they'd join the Big10 already. I'd enjoy the match ups.

FWIW, I think ND cares more about the exclusiveness than the actual money. Though, that is a pretty large difference in pay.

Doesn't ND bring a lot more money with their bowl game (if/when they make one), compared to the Big Ten and SEC sharing that trickles to Northwestern and Vanderbilt.

I guess he's referring to their conference shares.

Northwestern's share of the Big10 pie, and Vandy's share (which goes up to $20 Million shortly).

I'm getting my info from the local ESPN radio show.

When ND wins a bowl, it doesn't have to share a dime.

Vandy's cut of the CBS/ESPN/JP contract with the SEC

Northwestern's cut of the ABC/Big10 network

I see what you did there.

FWIW I'm pretty sure the Big10's split of 2 BCS games pays quite a bit more than the Hawaii bowl.

i wonder why he chose vandy and northwestern then as his example when it applies to every school in these respective conferences. cause they suck i guess.

Their deal in terms of bowl games isn't nearly as good as it used to be

Because those two are commonly seen as the lowest in the conference I guess?

But to make you happy nap:

What do Ohio St/Penn St/Iowa/Minnesota/Michigan/Michigan St/Illinois/Indiana/Purdue/Northwestern/Wisconsin have in common with LSU/Florida/Georgia/Tennessee/South carloina/Ole Miss/Miss St/Auburn/Alabama/Arkansas/Kentucky/Vanderbilt?

All ND has to do is make an easy schedule, win 9 games, and they are in a BCS bowl, and they don't have to share it with anyone. At that point, they can imitate the other Big Ten schools and get skull fricked by USC or another SEC team (let's face it, USC is basically an SEC team out west).
