Yes which may be the ideal spot this year.
Host Liberty then match up with Utah the 4? Sign me up for that

Huge IRISH fan here. Obviously I've loved all the comments lol, so honest and nice. Unfortunately some of us have to be guilty by association, so hate me and throw everything my way I guess. I've been a fan since 92 so I've heard everything, so it is what it is . Anyway, yes the schedule isn't exactly the best, but I'm not sure how they can control that. As for the OP who made this thread......if you spend your spare time just hating ND and let them live in your head rent free? Then you need new hobbies my friend. Go to Disney World, or go skydiving .Life is short... don't let Rudy run your world.

Yall must not have seen Miami’s schedule yet. It was pretty much understood if they beat Florida they’re in. The only other ranked team they play is Florida state and it’s at home

Dude for some reason the ND hate is more important here. Lol how dare you mention another team! Fyi I got less hate when he was in the Army. Then again it is what it is .

I don’t think anybody here is really threatened by ND. Definitely a nice win tonight but they’ll get murdered in the playoffs like they always do because they just don’t have the athletes to match up with the elites. I do think Marcus Freeman is legit and will have them as a consistent playoff team, though

I wish more people were like you. You were nice and you kept it honest too. You didn't have to be like a doichebag and make a ND fan here feel like a piece of shite some do here because they obviously have no life or hobbies. obviously people here hate ND fans here for some reason, but it is what it is. Lol I'm afraid I'm not liked here.

FSU will get it together and beat them
If that is their only loss, they’ll still be in the top 12 unless it is a horrific loss. Not saying they should be but they are currently #7.

Could we perhaps wait until at least the 2nd game

Does a 2 loss ND get in over a 2 loss SEC?

Is it Alabama, Georgia, Texas or OU. Or teams like vandy and mizzou?

Their defense was flying around. Denbrock will figure out the offense. They won’t win any shootouts, but are a solid team.

They will slip up. Offense not good enough
Posted on 9/1/24 at 9:20 am to rpg37
Yes but they get a free bye not having to play a conference championship game.

Amazing how beating what will likely be two cellar dwellers in the SEC in week 1 is what will basically wrap up a playoff spot for two mediocre teams in Miami and ND.
Oh yay! 12-team Playoffs will make the season more exciting!

Notre Dame has a legit defense and Al Golden is an underrated DC.
Their offense just needs to be average and they could run the table.

I didn't realize NDs schedule was that bad or maybe I wouldn't have spent the last 3 hours rooting against them. But shite they won't lose another game
And Saban is right that them being independent and therefore ineligible for top 4 seed byes is actually an advantage. They have a bye during conference title week, so they can't play their way out. Then a 12-0 or 11-1 ND is assured the #5 seed meaning they get a home game against the cupcake #12 group of 5 team. Then your next game is against the 4 seed which will be the worst conference champion (aka a B12 or ACC team that isn't actually anywhere close to the 4th best team, potentially even a conference title game upset team that isn't even ranked in the top 15).
The alternative would be joining the B10 and trying to be a top 2 conference team, then win the conference title game (not likely). Then if you did somehow win, you are the likely #2 seed with a first round bye, then a tough 7 seed opponent like the SEC's #2 or #3 team. I'd take the independent option all day with no conference title game, the G5 opponent, and the worst conference champ.

That is by design.
Under current playoff format, a 12-0 or 11-1 Notre Dame will almost always end up being the 5 seed since they can't get a top 4 seed, since they are independent. Also, they likely have an "easy" path to the College Football Playoff Semifinals, every year, in the current format.
Instead of a Conference Championship game for their 13th game of the season, Notre Dame will just consider their 1st round home playoff game as its "Conference Championship." The 5 seed gets the 12 seed, which will most likely be the Group of 5 school.
Notre Dame wins that round 1 game, and then they get to play the 4 seed in the Quarterfinals, which will probably be the ACC or Big 12 Champion, thus avoiding the SEC and Big 10 until the Semifinals.
So not only does Notre Dame have a soft Regular Season schedule, they have a path to the Semifinals every single year.

Based on what? They put up 23 on what everyone was saying is a great defense in the Texas heat with a huge crowd and a new offensive line.
They didn’t throw the ball downfield to protect the line. They will run the ball a lot and throw more as the line gets better.

The fact that ND put up zero resistance to the conference champ bye format tells you all you need to know.
