Yeah, I'll be fine without a gigantic tail wind

AT the 100 yard marker, it is seriously 10 yards. At the 128 marker, it is about 21

Only if it's tipped out and you're playing from the back tees. I hit 3 hybrid off that tee from the 2nd tees from the back the time I played. I was trying to play smart, but I pulled it into the drink. The ball actually landed just off the fairway, but there was no stopping it once it started rolling down the hill towards the water.

I would be hitting hybrid off the tee! What is the predominant wind direction on that hole?

I play a baby draw, so I'd take it straight at that trap. Bunkers are one thing that don't bother me, unless said bunker is 40 yards out, that's the hardest shot in golf imo

It's a 450 yard par 4 for you pros. You'd have a pretty long 2nd shot if you hit a hybrid.

I play the blue tees, if I hit driver I am almost always in those bunkers and the sand is a fine powder so if you fly your ball into it it will be sitting down.

Oh, I play the tips on most courses.

Not necessarily because I'm good enough, but because it usually allows me to hit more irons into greens and I'd rather do that than PW and GW's.

This also reminds me of how pissed off I am that most courses jump from 6300/6400 yds for the Men's tees to 7000+ for the Championship tees.

I play the tips for the same reasons

I find most courses have easier tee shots if you play back there

Maybe my driving distance is set up for the tips better, idk

#5 there is a 474 yard par 4 from the blues, probably 490 or 495 from the tips and plays into the wind. Good luck

Yea, that pisses me off too. I had this experience at TPC La last year. Played it once from the men's tees (tournament, I think) and I had a bunch of short irons in. Then I played 3-4 weeks later and decided to go back to the Dye tees. I hit hybrid 2nd shots (200+ yard approaches) on 5 of the par 4s. Wish there would've been some in between.

Leaves you like 160-165 to a back pin IIRC

Santa Maria front 9 from the blues...my most recent approach shots:

- knock down 8 iron into the wind
- GW
- 3/4 SW
- GW
- 1/2 SW
- SW
- pitch shot with PW

Olde Oaks had a par 3 that was 132 for us lowly hacks and 249 from the tips.
