I find message boards have to be somewhat young

Old people can't really figure this shite out, save for a select few

I made it out to the range yesterday and practice chipping again. I was starting to get fairly consistent on all of the chips I was practicing. However, my flops were about 50/50 hitting it perfect vs blading it (and scaring the shite out of the people running on the path behind the chipping green). After a few small buckets on the green, i went to the mats for some full swings and was hitting my irons and hybrid better than ever. Feelin good about my rounds this weekend if only I had a friend to play with

:foreveralone:

And my friend is awaiting the birth of his baby, so I am on dog-sitting standby. Do golf courses allow dogs to ride with you? haha

If you played the Oaks on a regular basis it would demand you to become a great driver. Course is narrow as hell. It has great greens though. Its a good old school layout. If you can score well out there you have played some good golf.

It took me almost a decade to get my account set up. I knew about it in 2003, but didn't get email set up until '09, learned how to use it in '10, tried to sign up in '11, and finally got it approved right before the undefeated season.

See it all the time, but from old people that live on the course.

Best part about that is the distance between greens/tee boxes. Makes it nice to walk. Fairways are narrow enough to keep you honest, I agree.

When I was like 12, I started an Alabama message board for fun. Somehow it caught on. Let someone else take it over (because I was 12) and for awhile it became one of the biggest Bama boards on the net. Was referenced in a few ESPN articles. Then a bunch of guys left to make another one and it died.

I like playing fast greens. I like the ball to die into the hole even on short putts, so it makes it easier for me to putt out there. I have trouble playing slower greens since I started playing there regularly. For as fast as they can get, they do hold shots well though. It's the rest of the course that is the problem. I used to like Toms, now not so much

How are the fringe/second cut areas? Is that where you're getting in trouble?

Dancing Rabbit had bent grass. They were fast as hell but the shots would check up way more than I was used to at MSU. So that caused me to leave my approaches short and that caused me to send my putts long.

What are some other solid courses in Houston? Going this weekend to play tour18 and might throw in another round. Looked online and there are literally 100 of them . Houston is a golf mecca.

Water breh. And native grass. There's a lot of room to hit the ball, but if you get off line recovery from the native grass is a B-word. And on the holes where there is water, there is usually fairway, a few feet of rough, then a 4-5 foot drop down a slope into the water so you ball has almost 0 chance of staying up.

Yeah look at #9 green. If you miss it right you have about a 2% chance of your ball not going into the water.

Growing up at the oaks is why I find myself in the fairway more times than not, itll also teach you to bend it like bubba.
