It’s nice to be outside in decent weather. It sucks in rain and freezing cold. I stand by that remark…

100%.

Football weather is 65 degrees and sunny as far as I'm concerned. Most of the people who say that football was meant to be played in sub-zero temperatures have never sat in those conditions for four hours at a time. As someone who has sat at a Broncos game where the temperature hovered around 18 degrees for much of the contest, I can tell you I'd have rather that game been played in a dome.

Off-season filler, owners would never let that happen

This is a tough call for the home teams. These cold weather cities need domed stadiums. Playing important games in those conditions these days is wrong. Sorry about your tradition.

Why can't the better team win in conditions that affect both teams equally?
Dumb conditions like heavy snow only contribute to randomness. In a test of skill, why would anyone want to MAXIMIZE randomness?

All randomness does is introduce noise that obscures who is more skilled.

The NBA has gone this route. Their target demographic is young guys that embrace a certain culture and live on X looking for a dunk or 35 foot 3.

Any new dome should be retractable roof and they shouldn't be allowed to have the roof closed unless having it open is dangerous to players or fans (lightning, subzero temperatures, or temperatures over 95).

Jerry was the first one to do the retractable roof and he never has it open. Same with the Rangers ball field.

Do any of the cold weather outdoor stadiums have trouble getting asses in seats?

Do any of the cold-weather dome stadiums have trouble getting asses in seats? If you build it, they will come.

Terrible idea, but don’t be surprised when it happens. The NFL doesn’t need anybody at the games, it’s all TV revenue. They’ll play the game in an empty stadium as long as people tune in. These leagues don’t give a frick about the fans.

The main culprit is gambling. Take that shite out of the equation and all these stupid changes go away
Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. NFL and these other leagues out there stuffing as much gambling ads as they can everywhere

Eh. I kinda agree its dumb that you play 17 games then a championship game in god awful conditions that dont allow for the better team to win and also produce a shitty game

I disagree that it produces a shitty game. I love “weather” games.

I disagree.

The randomness/noise is equally distributed. It doesn't favor one team over the other.

In high noise environments, traits other than raw physicality have heightened importance: mental fortitude, toughness, intelligence. Balanced teams should not neglect these traits.

Who is more skilled is an incredibly broad question, and the weather doesn't change the answer: it just reveals other skills that often go overlooked.

The better team will adapt to the conditions. If they can't then they are not the better team.

What a weak attempt to create 2 mini Super Bowls.

There are cities that would love it.

NOLA would want it probably every year instead of the Super Bowl (except for maybe every 10 years). Cities are learning that the Super Bowls don't actually boost the city economy. But, AFC/NFCCGs would because it would actually be fans traveling in and spending money in those cities as vacations.

That being said, it would go over like a ton of bricks with the fans.

Yea it’s gambling, the only thing they can’t control is the weather! So they want to take that out of the equation.

By definition, increased randomness pushes outcomes towards 50/50. In the extreme (infinite randomness) all outcomes are equally likely.

For a short while. Then it will quickly get taken over with corporate types, just like the big name bowls have.
