Why the frick is the field so big? And the endzones so big. And the goal post in the front (I realize that's how it used to be in the nfl).
Does it make for a specific type of gameplay? Or are they just trying to be different from the nfl?
ETA: and do they not kickoff?
Freakin Canadians

Also - the DL has to line up a yard or so away from the OL, there are 12 players on each team and the man in motion can be going toward the line of scrimmage when the ball is snapped.

Shreveport actually had a CFL team during the mid 90s when the CFL expanded into the U.S. for a short time. It was actually a very different and exciting brand of football. One rule I like is that they do not allow fair catching on a punt return.

But there has to be a 5 yard cushion for the returner to make a catch.

Three downs to make ten yards, so more passing. If you kick into the endzone and they don't run it out, you get a point. Two offensive men can be in motion toward the line of scrimmage. And in case you didn't notice, there are 12 players on a side

Best damn rule in CFL.
Come on NFL, man up.

The CFL is older than the NFL. The field size and goal posts harken back to when it was a rugby league.
