Was winning the 2024 natty a blessing and a curse for Ohio state?

Obviously great to win a natty but they could’ve fired Ryan day if it were a 4 team playoff and he missed it.

The players basically
Staged a revolt and willed with their talent that team to a natty run

But now they’re stuck with day for at least 5 years due to that natty

What sucks is that we wasted last year because of Day. The team this year isnt built to win a championship, even with Sayin healthy, but man there is no excuse for last year.

Although I get frustrated with the coaching too, who would we get that is better than Day? Look at Penn State this year.

We fired Zero less than two years later.

Cheesedick didn't last that long at Auburn after Cam dragged him to a natty.

Chip Kelly. Ohio State decided that throwing downfield was a good idea and they became unbeatable. Chip Kelly was why it was 31-7; Ryan Day is why the score ended at 34-23 (Natty game)

agree

Chip Kelly needs a HC job again. I hope the gators hire him next year but the UAA is so gay we’ll probably never win a natty again and probably won’t ever make the playoffs

Winning a natty is never a curse. You can’t assume you’d win more with a different coach, especially in today’s environment.

Exactly. People always act as if if great coaches grow on trees

I don’t think Day is a bad coach. The ways he loses games is just insanely annoying.

He’s about to piss away what’s left of Jeremiah’s Buckeye career. And that’s not from a “we should win it all because Jeremiah is out of this world” standpoint.

But if you lose games, lose to your strengths. I don’t give a frick if it’s a true freshman, you force feed the god damn transformer you have at WR.

As an Ohio State fan, I would say no, it was not a curse to win a national title.

This team has played: at Texas, at Iowa, at Indiana, and at usc, the latter without their starting qb.

I’d say Day is golfing par as the Ohio state HC.

They should generally be a top 10 year just about every year, barring injury.

And some years, not everything breaks your way.

Ohio State is probably the one university that is a coach maker

The most obvious point being that they won a championship with Day who is being criticized here. They don't need a splash hire. The program is just that strong.

He needs a vest or sweater. Just not both.

This is a new day and age. Players have all the power now. All coaches will have good years and bad years. Even Saban would struggle hanging on to players in this era. That's why he retired. I think Day's very good and OSU would be dumb to assume they can find another coach to do better

Brian Kelly seems like a natural fit

Chip Kelly left his HC job because he didn’t want to be HC again

He’d be great for the Gators, if you’re interested in seeing them lower the program even further

he’d be an upgrade over sumrall

Hell we should’ve kept Napier if sumrall
Was the only other option the UAA would pick
