Getting the itch and watching a bunch of "best plays of so-and-so season" videos, came across this clip again.
The refs with an absolute atrocious call on the 4th down measurement, in front of Spurrier of all people, but on the next play Clowney pulls a Honey Badger.
I never get tired of watching it.

It's the context of the hit that made it so impactful. The refs *point blank* screwed SC when they had stopped Michigan on 4th-and-1. Refs gave a fresh set of downs to Michigan, anyway.
Clowney then launches the tailback into orbit and recovers the ball with one hand. As much attention as the Hit got, the crap call should have been the real story.

I've always wondered if anything happened to that ref that was clearly cheating.

Look, Clowney absolutely destroyed the RB. I get it, it was a fantastic hit. But lets be real, literally no one blocked the guy. He didnt put a move on a man, he just ran straight into the RB. So "baller move"...no.

Again, the full context is key to this, but Clowney shot of the line of scrimmage like a cannon, hit, forced fumble, recovery, all in one move.

I remembered the hit so vividly but did not recall what had just happened before. It's hilarious that it was so obvious and the South Carolina entire team when crazy right in front of it.

SMH someone also has to be contrarian, I know you didn't wake up this morning planning to be such a buzz kill.
How many unblocked guys manage to pop a helmet off & force a fumble? The 4th down call raised the stakes massively & made it a "ball don't lie" moment. A lot of things combined here to make a great & memorable play

There is some truth to this.
To me, the more impressive play was reaching over and casually picking up the loose ball with one hand just as guys were about to dive in and try to recover it.
