No steroids Barry was still better than all of those guys.

OP specified “batter”

That makes it close

Thomas had no value other than hitting but damn was he great at it

I was a huge Big Hurt fan as a kid in the 90s. Had his signature Reebok cleats for Little League and everything.

But my answer to OPs query was Tony Gwynn. Just insane how little he struck out.

Mark Grace is a damn good answer too.

Everyone mentions Gwynn.

Very few people mention Boggs when they had very similar careers.

I don't think he was but he was really good. I miss when guys actually hit for average. Now a guy hits .280 and he's elite.

But Bonds was consistently good in the OF

Weak arm. Remember the wiffle ball he threw trying to get Bream at the plate?

For the short amount of time that I did keep up with baseball a little bit, Frank was my favorite player… he was fun to watch

Belle also had that homerun off a Maddux pitch in a damn near impossible spot off the plate. That year, no one was stronger than Belle.

Frank is a super cool dude. I was 18, summer after my senior year of HS. I worked for the Chattanooga Lookouts. We had the Southern League All Star Game Summer of 1990. There was a huge rain delay and I got down to the dugouts and got guys to sign balls for me. I still have my Frank ball. He saw my Auburn hat and asked about it and I told him I was headed there for school soon. He sat and spent about 20-30 minutes talking Auburn with me. What a guy!

“When I was like 19 years old [former big leaguer] Steve Christmas told me go visit Tom Emanski down in Orlando, he can help you out with your hitting. Five years later, I’m in the big leagues, so Tom’s like ‘Hey Fred, you mind helping me out with this video?’ and I’m like, 'Hey dude, no sweat, I’m in the big leagues.'

One of the most underrated players in the 90s is Rickey Henderson.

1990 he was league MVP, went to World Series with Oakland
1993 won the World Series with Toronto
1998 at the age of 39 led the league in walks & steals
1999 batted .315, hit a dozen HRs, stole 37 bases at 40 years old
