I was too young to watch Deion but champ Bailey was the greatest corner in my mind that I’ve ever seen play the game of football. Stats wise Deion had one more career interception but 400 less career tackles. Those who watched both, who would you say is better?

deion was the best shutdown of all time. he refused to tackle. you're question depends on what you're really asking. if you want best all around, then you also have to include Deion being the best punt return of all time.

1. Prime
2. Darrell Green
3. Champ
4. Woodson
5. Revis

To think the top 3 were on the Skins 2000 roster.

Champ literally learned from the best.

Prime wasn’t thrown at and hated tackling so his numbers are low

Rod Woodson was the best NFL DB I watched growing up.

He'd tackle, he'd cover, he'd make things happen if he got the ball.

Champ was great… but Deion different… made cornerback into a glamorous position… the demeanor you look for in a DB in high school and college Deion responsible for… the #21 in football will always be special

Rod Woodson was better than Deion IMO. Not trying to be incendiary.

I will never forget seeing Champ Bailey split out at WR and Lou Tepper's scheme having Thomas Dunson out there covering him one on one.

They would literally go multiple games in a row with only targeting Deion once a game or none.

There were seasons where he had multiple games of more ints than targets

There has never been a better cover corner than Deion Sanders.

This is a really good point. I’m not sure any other cornerback changed the perception of the position quite like he did.

Deion was the most overrated defensive player of the 90s. Was he good? Of course. But this "he took away half the field" nonsense is just garbage. And excusing his refusal to tackle is laughable. You can't be the greatest anything when you won't do literally half your job description.

That would be like saying, "Ozzie Smith was the greatest shortstop in major league history. Yeah, he refused to throw it to 1st, but he was a magician with the glove."

I’d say he is the most overrated defensive player of all time

He is overrated only to the extent he has become a legend that is more about his style/flair and persona than what he actually did on the field. But even with that, what he did on the field was electric, he was just watch tv. He was a sensational cover corner and dynamic return man when given the opportunity. And as a cover corner, he is in the discussion as the best ever.

But where the discussion changes with someone like Champ is when you expand the conversation from cover corner to best football player or all around CB.

They played the same position in very different ways. If I was starting a team today, I would have a hard time passing on sanders but if would prefer a more well rounded CB like Champ.

I didn’t answer the question but gave you my thought process.
