That's 45 pts a game that he denied the other team. Nothing to sneeze at

They do it for the NFL too. It’s stylish to be racist against whites and act like they’ve never been athletic.

Hahahaha.

Way to make this about race.

If you want to do engagement farming you should buy a blue check and go vomit this stupidity over on Twitter.

That’s where the unquantifiable “leadership”, a.k.a. having better teammates, comes in

While Russell played with marginal HOFers like Bob Cousy, Sam Jones, KC Jones and John Havlicek, Chamberlain played 5 years for the Lakers with Elgin Baylor and Jerry West who most experts would consider better players than Russell's Celtic teammates. He won one championship in LA.

Also, there were only 8 NBA teams during his first 5 seasons in the NBA.
9 teams for his next 5.
Then the league started adding more teams each year, and there were 14 for his last season in 1968-69.
So available talent was more concentrated back then.

Funny we see more threads about how shitty all time greats really are in the NBA, but no one ever does this for MLB, the NFL, or NHL.

I heard from a VERY reliable source on this board that NFL players would drink Coca Cola and beer during games just to get energy to finish the game so take that how you will.

Well, he wasn't in the military, so he was like everyone else then and today.

Russell averaged 15 points and 13 FGA....not exciting enough for the casual fan who only wants gaudy offensive numbers.

But he also averaged 22.5 rebounds a game and dominated other highs scoring bigs.. John Wooden called Russell "the greatest defensive man I've ever seen".

Not only was there only 8 teams' worth of players, there was only one bench coach, the HC. Not like it is now with another 7-8 coaches available for specialized coaching. Back then players did not sit out numerous games to pace themselves. Calling West & Baylor, etc. "farmers" just shows your ignorance.

If Russell had the ball the other team did not. So in my book, that's 22.5 times a game that someone else was denied a scoring chance.

So Wilt failed to win a title in 4 years with Baylor and West.

Havlicek is the Celtics all time leading scorer.

And he wasn't a full time starter until the year after Russell retired.
