He's Never in the discussion for all time great, but he has 11 rings (Talk to any Jordan stan, it’s the only statistic that matters in sport).

Was Russell just a product of playing against civilians or was he nothing more than a glorified Tristan Thompson?

Was no one else on the court trying to get points, rebounds, and win? Sure he wasnt playing against Shaq but he doesn’t have a Time Machine. He can only play who was there at the time.

You sound like Kendrick Perkins

Good, absolutely. Elite? No. I believe he only lead the Celtics in scoring once and was usually 3rd or 4th in scoring most seasons for them. His job was to rim protect and clean up clutter around the basket. Think prime Ben Wallace if Ben Wallace was surrounded by elite shooters and passers his whole career.

In 94 games head to head it looks like:

Wilt averaged 30 points and 28.1 rebounds while Russell averaged 14.2 points and 22.9 rebounds.

Celtics record in those games was a dominant 57-37.

These guys predate me, but it’s hard for me to really believe Wilt wasn’t the better player, and would have won all those rings if roles were reversed.

Funny we see more threads about how shitty all time greats really are in the NBA, but no one ever does this for MLB, the NFL, or NHL.

That’s where the unquantifiable “leadership”, a.k.a. having better teammates, comes in

They do it for the NFL too. It’s stylish to be racist against whites and act like they’ve never been athletic.

Phil Jackson named him first in a hypothetical about being able to pick any player in history to start a team.
