they just benched all their kickers for no reason

sure sure
So you are saying she kicks better than their punter, who averaged over 40 yards a punt

You are saying there are no ex-high school kickers on the team that could punt better than her

Lastly, You are saying there are no possible other men on campus that could kick better than her

Right

Maybe, maybe not. He didn't win the job.

Again, I think the biggest problem with this was Mason being a conservative wuss and having her squib it. That was weak shite and if I was her I'd have been pissed b/c it automatically made it look like she has no leg strength which is obviously not true b/c she's a keeper on the soccer team.

The punter punted seven times and averaged over 43 yards for punt. He could have done the job.

I just can’t imagine the gall it takes to think you have the standing within a locker room to give a halftime speech....as someone that just walked onto the team that week as a fricking back up kicker.

It is so absurd it is hard to believe.

Michelle Wie was 1 shot away from making at cut in a PGA Tour event at 14 years old and didn’t get this much attention.

She got massive attention when she was doing that. It was a pretty damn big story at the time. I think the difference is the media wasn't nearly as big as and as far reaching in 2004 when she was playing in men's events. It's honestly kind of amazing she played so well at such a young age and then has kind of fallen off the face of the earth as a pro golfer on the LPGA tour the past several years and never amounted to a whole lot given all the potential she clearly had.

No fricking shite. What a shock.

They kept quite last week because they were told to and also would have been crucified by the media.

But now that this stunt is going to continue they're like frick that.

Shocked no one has video of her trying to low five another player and he totally disses her and leaves her hanging.

She has the leg strength to kick a football about 25 yards or so

here is her kicking a 17 yard field goal off a tee and barely getting it over the crossbar

Would have looked great

They had no kickers b/c of COVID protocols and no men's soccer team. They found the person on campus with the strongest leg who was willing to play and went with her. Simple as that.

Well and at this point in the season expecting the NCAA Clearinghouse to clear someone that you pick up in a campus-wide tryout probably wasn't going to happen. This was as much about that convenience as it was anything since she was already eligible to play and not using up a football scholarship either.

I don't blame them for using her in that context. I do blame them for letting everything else go down that did to cause such a shitshow.

They have a men's club soccer team as well as a punter that I'd bet money kicked in high school and could be more serviceable for one game than she was.

It's also a bigger issue that this coming weekend, their kickers will be available again and she's still going to start. That's bullshite.

That's because this wasn't a competition. This was an order from over Mason's head to put her on the field as a publicity stunt.

Well, she doesn't have a leg. Also, if she blasted one all the way to the 30 and Missouri ran it back, imagine the blowback Mason would have gotten for letting her get fricking trucked by Missouri's returner or one of his blockers.

I was told that this was forced down Masons throat. Mason was fired for it and the players are In revolt because it. Don’t be surprised if Vandy won’t be able to field a team for the remainder of the year.

Her interview and victory lap was disgusting. Clear display of “it’s all about me, Frick the team”

can the SEC dump vandy and pick up memphis instead?

Vandy is a very strong member of the SEC. They suck at football, but they are a central Southeastern hub/market in an amazing city filled with other school SEC grads, have great baseball, historically strong basketball, good golf and other non-revenue sports, and keep the SEC GPA up.

Maybe, maybe not. We weren't at practice so we can't say. Maybe Mason wasn't willing to risk losing his punter to injury and wanted a person just for kicker.

Highly doubtful.

You forget the part about people who actually wanted to play. Vandy only has like 7k undergrads. Of that roughly half are women. Also factor in it was a holiday weekend and the fact that Vandy is an academic school so most students are not going to be athletically inclined. It's very possible there weren't any dudes there who were willing to play.

That seriously looks about as bad as when they'll have fans come on the field at halftime to try to kick a 15 yard FG for a $250 gift certificate to Kroger

every time I think about it I laugh.

What's best, she hadn't even been in the game yet by halftime.
