I wonder if she was impressed with herself during those warmups but played it off like she wasn't getting it all like she knew she could.

"Still warming, coach. Bet your arse I can bomb a 25 yarder in game with the heat on if needed."

I mean, if you are suddenly getting to play SEC football and your coach says in your big moment you have to squib it? I know I'd hate that if it was me. I doubt any athlete would be happy about it.

no kickers
Not true. Their punter had a hell of a day. Why couldn't he sub as place kicker? I'm sure he's attempted more field goals and kick-offs than Sarah.

She couldn’t kick the ball anywhere near far enough to attempt a normal kickoff

they just benched all their kickers for no reason

sure sure

It was absolutely not for no reason. It was for the progressive PR they ended up receiving with the national media.

Nobody who knows anything about athletics in general thinks that girl can kick better than their punter.

That squib is her max distance man

She can kick a soccer ball 40 yards

She haxed out at about 25-30 for a football

It's honestly kind of amazing she played so well at such a young age and then has kind of fallen off the face of the earth as a pro golfer on the LPGA tour the past several years and never amounted to a whole lot given all the potential she clearly had.

Her parents burned her out as a youth player. She started partying/rebelling as she got older and still does.

Classic child actor situation, except sports.

It's also a bigger issue that this coming weekend, their kickers will be available again and she's still going to start. That's bullshite.

Well, yeah. If theyir kickers are in the clear and they are still using her that's some bullshite. I'd completely agree with that.

They have a men's club soccer team as well as a punter that I'd bet money kicked in high school and could be more serviceable for one game than she was.

W/the punter I think that can easily be explained by Mason not wanting to risk an injury to him and then have no kicker or punter.

With the club soccer team, were those guys even available. Again, it was Thanksgiving weekend.

The punter could do what she did, kick the ball and immediately haul arse off the field

dude they asked this girl to perform a squib kick and run off the field while the ball was still live. It’s the lowest bar imaginable for anyone “playing football” and basically zero risk of injury. The punter would have been just fine.

Maybe his directional kicking sucked?

Honestly, I don't even know why this bothers so many here so much. Vandy is terrible. Who really gives a shite? They got beat 41-0 so it's not like she had any negative impact on them winning or losing.

Again, I'll just say having her squib it was lame and it's dumb that they let her do a halftime speech which I think would be wrong for any player to do had they only been on the team a week.

Again, I think the biggest problem with this was Mason being a conservative wuss and having her squib it. That was weak shite and if I was her I'd have been pissed b/c it automatically made it look like she has no leg strength which is obviously not true b/c she's a keeper on the soccer team.

You do realize she squibbed it because she cant kick it past the 30 right? I mean if anyone saw the videos of her warming up they would know that.

Maybe, maybe not. We weren't at practice so we can't say. Maybe Mason wasn't willing to risk losing his punter to injury and wanted a person just for kicker.

Vandy's backup punter, Jared Wheatly, kicked in high school, only missing one FG his senior season. Their starting punter, Harrison Smith, did not kick at Brentwood Academy in high school but could have if needed. They also have a backup defensive back that was a starting kicker for his high school for 4 years. Montgomery Bell Academy's (local private school, powerhouse football program in the state) former 4 year starting all-state kicker, who is a current student at Vandy, offered to kick, and they didn't even entertain it. There was no try-out

The only two problems here are Mason making her squib it (which IMO is actually more insulting to her than anything else) and Mason letting a kicker who has been on the team all of a week give a halftime speech.

Wow. Imagine believing everything you just typed.

For the love of God, please put her in the game to try a 45 yard FG so we can end this Billie Jean King fakery.
