Hey AP, give us the 2003 AP title. We don't need it, but we sure as hell want it

I knew when Pete bolted for the NFL the situation was worse than what USC fans wanted to think it was, but this is beyond what I though would happen.

The details of the findings will be interesting. Given the reported penalties, they obviously are going to get hit with lack of institutional control.
Rumor has it SC coaches and admin were caught lying on several issues. One being their lack of knowledge of benefits received by multiple players during their time at SC.

A two-year bowl ban and a loss of more than 20 football scholarships are among the sanctions that the NCAA has dealt USC, a source with knowledge of the situation said Wednesday.

Tin foil hat time.
This has been delayed a long time now. Now the same week that conference realignment seems to be a reality it comes out?
What are the chances that the NCAA was waiting for realignment to go down to try and bury this story?

Even if we loose 1 scholarship I want to see this in civil court. If there is all this secret evidence, lets see if it holds up...

it doesnt mean shite if you take those things back, except what you see on paper.
Reggie Bush will always be the Heisman winner.
USC will always be the AP national champs.
they will always have won those games
No it is bs because they then become professionals. They are competing against amateur teams therefore they have an advantage. Also the fact they were giving improper benefits could be seen as the way they became such a good program. Anyone that argues that nonsense is spitting in the face of college football.
They may have won, but sense they were not playing by the rules it shouldn't count. Just think of it as a shitty pro team playing against college teams to win the championship every year. That is basically the idea.

The only reason I dont think they should take it away is because was he recruited illegally? Yes. But did he play illegally such as steroids or something that gave him an on-field advantage? No. He still earned that Heisman even if he had off the field benefits.
I was about to say this. He did earn the Heisman. Him taking the house or whatever didn't affect his play.

How do the scholarship limits work?

The idiots don't realize that things would get even worse with a court case and the NCAA would then have subpoena power.

.Cal gets the hammer as talks of bringing in Texas continue. So.Cal could be in a world of hurt even after these sanctions end.
I really think our '94 sanctions (no bowl, no TV, loss of scholarships) and the years of double secret probation were a HUGE reason Texas was able to take over our domination of recruiting in the State of Texas.
We obviously are a long way off from taking it back.

i think its BS that pete carrol can just dart as soon as his team is about to get fricked.
what are they going to do? send him from teh seahawks to the raiders?
he's hardly the only one to stay one step ahead of NCAA law. Coach Cal is the Peter North of pulling out just in time

Exactly what I thought of when the "PAC 16" rumor got out.
