Cecil Hurt is on Finebaum right now. He's saying that the fact that USC made no attempt at compliance or at being cooperative with NCAA during their investigation led to the harshness of the penalty.

Frankly, I could have called that about a year ago when Lane Kiffin started racking up secondary violations in record time at Tennessee. It seemed like he was completely unaware of regulations regarding how to run a program.

He also said that by the 2013 season USC will probably only have 60-65 scholarship players. And that will only be if they do a great job of retaining the players they recruit.
