There are over 14 million Mormons in North America, Boise has less than a quarter million people.

I’ll say it again for the 3rd time, if Boise St is a “JUCO program out in the sticks”....then what is Washington St? What is Texas Tech? What is Iowa St? What is Kansas? What is Oklahoma St? What is Kansas St? Boise St has spent more time in the top 5 than ANY of those schools the last 15-20 years....AND Boise is bigger than any of those markets. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Again, Boise St brigs more to the Big 12 in football than ANY of those schools. What am I missing here? What do those schools bring to the Big 12 in football?

There are several G5 schools investigating the possibility of going independent. It is no secret some schools have met with FANG companies about stand alone broadcasting rights - and all indications are the talks are going very, very well.

CBS, ESPN, ABC, NBC won’t be calling the broadcasting rights in 10 years and FANG is trying to figure it out with G5 teams before going to the table with P5 teams.

The basis for pay will be online views, not market size....and it will completely reshape college athletics as we know it.

The tuition there is very very cheap for a private school.

Holy shite. It's like 5300 if you're a Mormon. 11,580 if youre not. That's cheaper than a lot of public schools now.

They’ve been there for 20 years now, with at least three different coaches doing it. What makes you think that changes?

the two are not really comparable.

First of all, G5 schools play very few meaningful games that they host as opposed to when they travel to P5s

Boise State University has filed a lawsuit against the Mountain West Conference over the new TV contract announced earlier this month.

Boise State claims that the Mountain West breached its contract with the school by signing the deal without the Broncos’ approval. The lawsuit also says that the conference has decided to put an end to two benefits the school negotiated as part of its 2012 deal to stay in the Mountain West, including a $1.8 million annual bonus.

quote:

“Boise State’s decision to join the conference was predicated on a number of negotiated provisions, including the right to separately negotiate material terms of media rights relating to our home games,” the university said in the statement distributed to the media by a spokesman. “This is stated in our conference agreement and cannot be changed by any vote of the membership or conflicting agreement. We will not support any change to this provision and are in the process of weighing our options to move forward.”

The Boise State-Mountain West terms sheet dated Dec. 31, 2012, that governed Boise State’s future relationship with the conference spells out the Broncos’ rights and obligations with regards to the TV contract.

“Boise State shall provide the MWC the exclusive television broadcast rights to its intercollegiate athletic events, including but not limited to home football games, each season,” the terms sheet reads. “In return, MWC will ensure such Boise State home football games are not part of, nor granted under, any current or future MWC conference-wide television rights contract … . MWC will ensure that the Boise State home football games are sold as a separate package. Boise State and MWC must mutually agree to whom such Boise State home football game rights are licensed and to the material terms of such license … .”

Everyone will laugh, but I could see the PAC-12 inviting them.

0% chance. They'll probably go independent or something.

MWC holds all the cards.

PAC 12 won’t invite them, Big 12 doesn’t care about them. The Sun Belt, CUSA, and MAC are well out of their reach. So it’s either take what the MWC offers or be an independent and be New Mexico State in 3 years.

It's worth it for the AAC to sign them on. They're pricks, but it cements the NY6 bid.

Just from a football perspective it’s a zero sum game for the AAC to bring them in, and that’s without their contract demands.

When you look at the other sports, there is no reason for the AAC to invite them.

Like I said, the MWC has all the cards here.

If the AAC added Boise it would be as a football only member, other sports can go WCC.

They have a decent hoops team. Make them go all sports and make them take a fair AAC share.

Why do that when they are going to want special treatment? They are as good as dead if they go independent. They will never get any P5 schools to play them in Boise. The MWC will black list them completely.

They can ask for special treatment but they won’t get it. Their options are limited, independent would probably be a death sentence.

AAC should add Boise St and BYU. Would make the AAC a legit football conference. Better than the ACC.
