Kawhi Leonard will be a free agent twice in 2019. It is very likely that he will be searching for a new NBA team and now a new shoe deal, according to ESPN's Nick DePaula. After turning down a four-year, $22 million deal from Jordan Brand in March, the company announced on Tuesday that it will let Leonard leave the company in October. Leonard will be free to sign with any shoe brand of his choice. Similar to his tumultuous year in San Antonio, Leonard has not spoke to the media regarding his contract with Jordan Brand nor his plans at the end of his deal later this year. Earlier this year, ESPN reported that talks between Leonard's camp and Jordan stalled. Under his current contract with the shoe company, he earns less than $500,000 per year in the endorsement deal.

It's pretty crazy how far Kawhi's reputation fell.

He went from a dude everyone liked because he was a quiet superstar to one of the biggest divas in the sport.

6 Million a year for a top 5 player is very very low.

It is, but he's not nearly as marketable as the other guys, and I'd guess he's not actually willing to do these promotional tours and things the other guys do.

Quiet superstars can be manipulated by close family members. He’s letting his uncle manage him right out of a career.

And now we know why Kawhi wanted to leave San Antonio so badly.

Shoe deals are about marketability. Kawhi is the least marketable star in the league.

He was never likeable. We been deriding him for lack of leadership for years that’s why we could never put him in the tier with the big 4 in today’s NBA. now of course a few years later everyone else is catching on...Oh b

Couldn’t that be a product of the SAS culture. The shut up and do your job?

Like is KD really more marketable?

He’s a weirdo who has burner account to defense himself on twitter. He’s not exactly charismatic. He’s just good at basketball.

I'm not going to get involved in the debate but your stance that James Harden is this great leader is one of my favorites. Always gets a laugh. Keep up the good work B
