Well Im no expert but a contract should reflect all pricing as well as price bumps. Thats true of any contract ive ever seen. Unless im missing something, how is this any different?

They are negotiating the rights to broadcast the UFC, not the pricing of the service that will platform it. UFC couldn’t care less about what they charge for it, they are getting paid already.

Streaming companies do price hikes all the time based on the content they procure. I doubt the price of the service is related or mentioned at all to the contract the UFC signed here.

TKO owns WWE and UFC. TKO just signed WWE to an ESPN deal where the PLEs will be available if you have a cable subscription. I could see Paramount putting the UFC PLEs on the basic tier in order to increase basic subscribers and increase views. Ratings still matter even in the streaming world.

The $1.1 billion per year is an average, the amount Paramount pays ramps so they can do the same with subscription prices if necessary.

I was surprised by how little ESPN seemed to promote the UFC. It felt like a bad fit because most of their talking heads seemed to turn their noses up at the thought of MMA and they didn't leverage football broadcasts as a promotional tool. CBS can easily do better using all the eyeballs they get on NFL broadcasts.

Holy shite, this jay saved Paramount Plus from extinction, plus millions of ppl already have the service and likely don't even know it.

If you have Walmart plus or a plethora of other sub services like that, you get if for free.

This is kind of a huge coup for CBS as well as the viewer. They already know how to produce live events much better than Amazon to Netflix and they have actually been in the MMA game as long as any network when they used to carry Strike force. Hell, they are the OG, back when Gus Johnson was on the call and Gina Carano and Nick Diaz were lighting it up.

This is awesome. Can't imagine how much CBS paid for this.

I only wish they were moving for this weekend's card. Excited for this one. Guess I'll pony up.

I guess the question now is, will Paramount+ raise their price due to this?

100%. Will probably double or triple.

I like having the main cards start at 9pm and end at midnight. They do not have to compete with other sports by doing it that late. Early fights still start at 5pm/ 7pm. Its not like they start everything at 9pm. They will lose more viewers with prelims if they start even earlier in the day. The people who are watching the main events are going to watch no matter what.

Many of the fights are in Vegas/ West Coast so the fights aren't really starting at 9pm their time and they aren't going to have the main events start at 5pm.

It cracks me up that ESPN (the Worldwide Leader is Sports...) basically got rid of the UFC (real fights) in exchange for WWE (fake fights)

deal with merchandising between UFC and Walmart.

Would be a fitting partnership given the direction of the company the past few years

Have to think the UFC was dying to break with ESPN. That PPV setup had to have been detrimental to sales.

Dana was doing media interviews today & he mentioned doing 4 big fights a year on CBS (out of 13 numbered events) including the White House card on 7/4/26

You can also get Paramount + through 247Sports if you’re into recruiting.

That's how I get it. Honestly, I hate Bamas 247 site and rarely use it now that BamaOnline went to On3, but its worth it because I get Paramount plus with it. Was kinda pissed when they moved because now I had to get the On3 site and that was an additional 100 bucks a year.
