Yeah that got a little lame, but I like him. Want to see him do well

Winner looks like death and the loser looks like he could go 3 more rounds lol.

Minus the head kick Islam did almost no damage.

wish they’d change mma scoring. “Takedowns” get far too much weight
And Islam had the best striking moment of the fight.

Why do so many people dislike Garry? Seems like a solid and respectful guy. Dude is legit and will continue to get better.

Too bad its a 5 round fight and not 8.

He did have the best striking moment which makes his dry humping and making a fight boring worse

Is it really “control” if you get punched 40 unanswered times while doing it

Probably because he comes off as a try hard and no one believes the nice guy persona.

Because he is fake as hell man. I don't even mind Garry as much as most but the dude is the quintessential tool.
Rooted for Volk over Islam FWIW. Not a Muslim.

Damn. Wanted some more output from Garry at the end.
He came into the UFC being a sharpshooting hitter. Needed to land some hard shots toward the end, try to wobble Islam when he had him tired out in the later rounds.

At the end of the day, he had the most control and had the biggest moment in the fight. Yes, he took the most damage but that's not the end all-be all.
Congrats to him for cementing himself in the pantheon of the greats. It's probably close to the end of the line for him. I honestly think Morales would ruin his legacy.

Prates will probably be next up because he's exciting, getting old, and will be an easy fight on the ground for Islam. Prates could very well lose a fight in between, so it's time for the UFC to give him his shot. Morales could be Islam's final fight, win or lose, before retiring with at least 30 wins.

Islam is only 34. He’s got at least 2 years left before he retires.
Posted on 8/16/26 at 12:26 am to GRIZZ
Khabib retired at 32 after 29 fights. Islam is already a double champion and just wrapped up his 29th fight. Who is interesting left for him to fight? Prates and Morales aren't marquee names. Islam didn't really look that interested this fight. I think a retirement could happen any time after he reaches 30 wins.

Dag fighters will never fight past their prime. I doubt he goes past 35, which means he's prob got 1 fight left.
They'll feed him Prates and he'll win with eas b/c Prates can't grapple, then retire.

Wasn’t able to watch but my buddy said this ended up being one of the best cards of the year. CJ pulled off a twister?!

Islam said he wants to fight until he gets the win streak to 20. So he has 3 more fights to do that.

Is it damage if you still push the action and dictate the fight?
